Re: E-Bike XB502 conversion project

The motor spins backwards ATM and I don't have any black paint for the deck so it is currently primer red. I have grip tape to apply to the top side of the deck. The deck needs some curved wood pieces made for sealing up deck to the moped body and then this machine is DONE.

Re: E-Bike XB502 conversion project

Busy busy busy!!! Finally got back to the moped again... I've had these parts partly made for several months now and finally got them finished up tonight. It's a piece of aluminum rod that's about 1.5" long. The bottom is narrower and is threaded with M6. The the wider portion as seen here is thread...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

Just an update on my problem with bt not connecting. The seller finally got in contact with me sent sent me a link to download the android app which is different to the xiaoxiang app. http://smart-bms.com/M/Support/Download/ This app does read the bms details and cell voltages however it continuall...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

Without a doubt the assembly is poor, the components used are questionable, the documentation is non existent and both the PC and phone apps have plenty of room for improvement. That being said, the TI chip at their core is very capable and with a bit of input from everyone on here they have potent...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

@electricgod: i did some testing of the FETs that are installed on my BMS. those are IRFB3607. RDSon typ of . it was not easy to remove them from the board. took some time with the hot air station and then two of them came off. i attached a 36V powersupply to them on one side, and a 500W resistor b...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

There is open source software for the arduino to interface to the chip used in it, and the same guy has designed a board around it but it's not available for sale. It's possible that the manufacturer of this board used this code. TI also do an interface chip to control a lot of the functionality of...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

It looks like they use different mosfets depending on the cell count which totally makes sense. Mine are the 16-20S version so it needs 100 volt mosfets. This is straight from the spec sheet for the 3410 mosfet...105 mOhms and 17A max...UGG! There are various spec sheets for any particular mosfet, m...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

Nice mod but imho absolutely not needed. The modded BMS should work up to hundreds of amps based on the FETs capabilities alone. But are you going to do that? What's the reason behind your work? Just the fun is tinkering? I understand that as I tend to do the same. But it is needed? You are right.....

Re: bluetooth BMS?

There's reasons why these BMS are so cheap...

Go read my last 3 posts! The devil is in the details.

Now that I have fixed their faults, I think this will be a decent BMS.

Re: bluetooth BMS?

Original copper buss placement...UGG! Notice how the copper doesn't even make it to the end of the buss to the P- wire bonding pad. There is almost .5" of gap here and no copper over lapping the the actual solder pad! Notice how there is zero solder flow around the copper. It looks like it's sitting...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

IF anyone does this BMS mod, please pull off the original copper reinforcing on the busses, They are sooooooo NOT soldered down to anything! Also, the solder pads under the discharge mosfets were not bonded to the mosfets very well. I imagine the charge mosfets are similarly bonded. I did have 2 tha...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

New shunts arrived tonight so I soldered them down on my 20S BMS. It has upgraded mosfets...IRF4110's in place of the craptastic HY3410. The HY3410 according to it's spec sheet is good for 17 amps at 10 volts, so lets call that 2 amps at 82 volts and be super nice and liberal. AND they are Chinese H...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

Just few personal observations about BT modules in general. 1)Some just do not pair to specific devices. Have not found solution for that. 2)Some pair but do not connect to specific devices. Have not found solution for that. 3)Some will not reconnect twice on specific devices. Must forget the BT mo...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

I was thinking about your BT connectivity situation... 1. In android settings is a place to check for available BT connections. In there the BMS should be listed as "xiaoxiang BMS" or something like that. You can't connect to is from here, just see that it is advertising it's existence. 2. Start up...

When I sent it back I opted to have the bluetooth upgraded to use the dashboard feature for android devices. Everything worked well for a while then the bluetooth would constantly d...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

After much messing around the solution was to unplug the balance cable, disconnect the Bluetooth module, reconnect the balance cable and THEN ...

Yes, AliExpress truly is the exception to all Chinese retain experiences. In my opinion, apart from shipping delays it exceeds the eBay or Amazon experience. The produ...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

you don't really think you will get customer service from a Chinese seller do you? They work 100% on bare minimum margins. Warranty replacement for this component is unlikely IMHO. I've gotten the best customer service I've ever received from AliExpress sellers where I lodged claims on, or shortly ...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

see those 2 solder holes at the middle, right hand edge of the board? That's P-. Connect your EV here. If you care about having mosfets that control charge then run your charging port to C-. I'm never concerned with charge current. AT it's best, it's maybe 50% of discharge current so I never use C-...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

Just replace the little BT board on the back plane. If it costs you $10, I'll be surprised. I don't need to, they just plug in on my board. I only mentioned it since someone mentioned not being able to connect via Bluetooth. I was offering the possibility of a faulty BT module as a possible explana...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

These 3 CZT5551 NPN transistors and 3 more on the other side of the board all look like they are in parallel. Perhaps they make up the power component for a regulator somehow? If they are depletion-mode FETs, then they can be used as a regulator the same way the Cycle Analyst from Grin Tech does it...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

This is the one I'm talking about which is the same as the one you describe - separate charge and discharge FET banks. Re: bluetooth BMS?

I have one of these BMS units. Just installed it a week ago and working through its functionality. I alway hate when a board has conflicting markings - such as a separate place to solder P- and C-, but they tell you to put both wires on the C- tab. Why? Does anyone know if the P- port works? I'd li...
