Icon Legend - What the heck do all these mean?

Good question, depending on which theme you use will determine if you see any icon legend about what all these things means.

here's a question - is it possible to make the "view new posts" link only view NEW posts?

I find on my comp that when i click the button i get threads with no new posts in them! its frustrating because you have to sort through them (yes i am being picky!)

The way i read these forums is to
1. go to new posts
2. read any thread that i'm interested in that i haven't read before.
3. if i want to follow whats going on in that thread, then i subscribe.
4. if i don't want to follow it, i just go back to new posts which this thread will have disappeared from.
5. repeat until there are "no new posts"

if a thread gets a reply and i'm not following it- it will appear back in the new posts section, if i'm following it i'll also get an email.

is it me or am i doing something weird or wrong.

When inserting images hosted elsewhere, place the URL of the image between the bbcode tags:

It is suggested that uploading to the ES server will help ensure that images are retained with the posts... Using hosted or hotlinked images can lead to broken links.

FYI: While composing a post, if you hold your mouse-pointer over the bbcode buttons, they will display usage hints.

After composing a Private Message (PM), I hit the "Submit" button. Seconds later I was informed that "The message has been sent".

Yet the message is actually in the "Outbox" and not in the "Sent" box. Some time later (mins or hours), the message disappears from "Outbox" and reappears in "Sent". So, what exactly triggers the transition from one to the other box?

Opening the PM by the recipient changes the message status.

Thanks. So "Outbox" is a misnomer! No wonder so many people (myself included) are confused.

1. Can we get a quickie update on the icons? There seem to be some appearing on forum indices that aren't covered here (like the ones with sub-icons like Mr Green, etc).
2. Can you explain the rules that the site uses to display images? Some are true size, some are windowed with sliders, and some are represented with a scaled image and you must click to get the original.

EDIT - Ahh - I see that the composite icons on the topics are based on 'topic icons' selectable when the topic is created...
