Lipo low voltage shut off device?

Looking at running lipos on my ekart and looking for some extra insurance that I do not ruin my brand new lipo packs.. I am running low volt alarms, but is there a low voltage cut off device that I can also run? I would need one that can handle 8s 12s and 16s @ 200+ amps.

My ESC is non-programmable and cuts off at 21.5v.

Does one device have to suit all? Or are you putting one protection device per battery?

What you're speaking of is called a BMS, or battery management system.

If it's a fixed config, then they're pretty cheap, $20-100 depending on what current you want.

For 200A+ though, you'd probably want to put a relay in - so when the BMS cuts power, it cuts power to the relay instead. This will mean you only get protection for cell low/cell high and not for too much current being drawn though - but if you're drawing too much current chances are you will trip cell low anyway.

If you want one device that can be reconfigured so you have 1 protection device for as many batteries as you want, you need a programmable one, which costs an arm and a leg:

That one can carry up to 500A continuous, 2000A burst, and 720v. (96S).

you need a voltage relay that measures battery voltage and will trip a much larger solenoid that can handle the higher amps
relay costs about 6 dollars
you can find solenoid for 20 dollars

I think the word you're after is "contactor", not "solenoid", in typical EV usage.
