This came out today:

"Victory Charger" has a nice ring to it. Gotta say it's awesome to see these big players jump into the pool...

Our time has come!

Maybe they will make a hub motor with airless suspension wheels

A hardtail eBike with something like this instead of spokes. Polaris has working on airless tires for a while.

Polaris is an exciting motor company and judging by what they've done with acquisition of the Indian brand, I'm very stoked for the e-moto they come up with.

Here's another story with a little more detail.

Polaris is also making a dent in the fat bike entry market. May be a platform for a econo ebike sometime soon. @ wally world for $324.

Polaris doesn't make that fat bike. At most, a person in their marketing dept. is in charge of interfacing with the importing/branding company Cycle Force Group.
They are a company in my city that has imported and branded Jeep, Chrysler, Smith and Wesson, etc. bicycles. The Polaris electric bikes may be coming from somewhere else as they only have one folding ebike that I've seen. CFG said they experimented with electric bikes a long time ago and couldn't find a way to make money on them.

Their 'factory' store:

The Polaris is a steel frame single speed, the Kawasaki is the aluminum 21-speed:

Here's hoping they're making sure the quality of those ebikes won't besmurch their later motorcycle offerings.

The woolly looks like a perfect bike to start with. Steel- long WB single speeder with a big open frame. You will be free to cut / weld up the dropouts to add torque arm setups and the like, and cold set spacing if need be. Nice solid steel Tubes to clamp / braze to also if need be. Most likely be much more durable than the alloy one. No issue with Polaris subbing out the building as they do on many of their branded items. Just how it's done in many companies these days. Wise to position them selves in the full line of propulsion vehicles. IMO.

Agreed on every point, Speedy :)

Another Pro-

-Horizontal dropouts

Cons-

-No derailleur / chain tensioner mount
-No rear disk brake caliper mount
-Coaster brake

The Wooly Bully looks like a great candidate for a mid-drive and / or fat longtail eBike build..

..my Buy Now finger is getting itchy.

Give a Google search for "Evantage Motors". :)

Indian Motorcycle of PCB Donates to PCBPD

PANAMA CITY BEACH-- A local business owner is contributing to the Panama City Beach Police Department in hopes of helping keep the community safe.

Indian Motorcycle of Panama City Beach donated a Polaris Electric Bicycle, also known as an e-bike, to the police department Wednesday.

The e-bike has integrated equipment and new technology that will help officers save energy while traveling faster.

"The bike is a pedal assist bike which will help them travel at faster speeds without getting tired," Indian Motorcycle General Manager David Elder said. "It basically can go 25 miles per hour with a long charge period. It can go faster through the trails and things like that since we have so many trails around the city. It can get them to point A and point B in a lot faster way."

"We're going to use these mainly on Gayle's Trails and also on Front Beach Road and through the neighborhoods," Panama City Beach Police Department Chief Drew Whitman said. "We like getting our bicycles out through the neighborhoods and with the additions of Gayle's Trails, it's going to be a great asset out there. There's tons and tons of miles out there we can use this on."

Maybe you don't want an electric Slingshot... not til they work the bugs out anyway...in the news on the web...

"Earlier this month, Polaris took the rather drastic measure of issuing an order to its dealers to stop selling the new Slingshot roadster trike, and to owners of the same to stop riding them. Now the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has followed up with a recall.

The issue revolves around the the upper pinion bearing in the steering rack assembly, which may disengage and cause the driver (or rider, since the Slingshot is technically classified as a motorcycle) to lose control of the vehicle. The recall does not, however, appear to address the secondary issue of the roll hoops, which were, at the time of the stop-sale and stop-ride orders, said to fall short of "Polaris performance specifications."

The nicest turnkey fat ebike I've seen so far is the Felt LebowskE.... really really crazy light.

fork.jpg

The metal work on the fork is beautiful, carbon bars, double wall rims, thru axle wheels, dropper seatpost, super clean wiring... even the cable for the dropper runs inside the frame and up the inside of the seatube. This one the first one that pulling it out of the box to build it made me think..."Wow, a beautiful fat bike...I never thought I would think that about a fat bike" The fork almost looks painted white in the pics.. its actually shiny shiny aluminum reflecting the overcast sky.
