For this you will need 3.5mm diameter reed switch:
1.
http://www.newark.com/comus-assemtech/s1372/switch-reed-proximity-3-5x18mm/dp/46W5571?ost=S1372
Cost 8USD, available in USA and Europe
2.
Chosen diameter rare magnets, in my case 3x1mm from eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-20x-Neo...agnet-3x1mm-/171222795845?hash=item27ddac8645
Cost 1USD
3.
Some 2 core wire
4.
I have used a press drill, 3.5 and 3mm drill bits, some epoxy glue
3.5mm hole for reed switch:

3mm hole for 2x 3x1 magnets (The less magnets you use, the smaller working distance.)

Magnets glued in place:

Completed mod:

Reed switch could be glued in place or held by a 3mm screw. The later allows for action adjustment but must be done with care as over tightening the screw might deform reed switch making it always on. Mine works fine:

Dont have a photo yet but adding a touch of black paint makes the mod indistinguishable, OEM look ;)

P.S. I'd like to note that these reed switches work putting magnet on a side at the top, only operation distance decreases then. Might be useful for someone like me who did not had experience with reed switches.

This is perfect for what i was thinking, Only last night i was looking at reed switches as an ebrake as i have used them for alarms before and was wondering how to adopt this system into my brakes.
This beats Glueing them on and looking ugly.

Great work, very well done.

Classy looking!

From reading other posts I thought that a three conductor hall effect sensor was required rather than a two conductor reed switch.

Nice!! Thank you for sharing!!

So i have another task. I have an LED tail light with three wires. One is for solid and another for blinking. There is no regenerative brakes on this AXE controlled i suppose so i will be doing this mod for lights only. i figured that i need Change over contact reed switch i think its the same as SPDT. For reference here is what i dug up so far:

Prices vary from 5EUR to 17EUR and later one is M6 threaded and thus require no glueing.
