I want to build myself a wee trailer to get some stuff haulin'. i got some wheels off the wheelchair to find out the wheels are of some strange size. I have checked it against 20" maxxis tire and the rim is larger. So i assumed that it is 22" and bought some tires and tubes just to find out that they are too large. WTF. I have inspected the rims and there is marking: Rigida 20x1 3/8. My question so far is what efing tires i need to get?

Tires with fractions are a totally different ISO size from tires with decimals. Its weird, but just how it works. a a 20" X 1 1/4" (ISO 419mm) is a different rim size from a 20" X 1.25" (ISO 406mm) So search for tires with fractions in the size.

Wheelchair rims are all based on the fractional size. Here's the first I found. http://enableyourlife.com/20-x-1-3-8-in-37-451-wheelchair-street-tire.asp

Finally i got required tires so began my trailer build. Most of the work completed, need to make the tow bar and hitch, do some lid gluing to shape it:

Very nice job. Just be mindful of power usage. I also built a trailer for my E-bike also using wheels I got off of a wheel chair, trailers draw a bit more power than you would suspect. I recommend using a watt meter.

Thanks guys, appreciate it. I can tell that it will draw more, tested it on grass, human power only :) My build in progress bike should suffice, I will have1.5kw of battery on board for 30km round trip a day.

It will be hard top. I done curved sides just to play with thin plywood sheets and try glue bend them:

Tested it on the bike. All seems fine:

Nice work. If it's worth doing its worth doing well. The laughter from the kids makes it all worthwhile.
We become restrained as we age, no? We say "ebike grin" when, more accurately, our internal dialogue sounds like your kids. Thanks for posting this, agniusm.

Nice build! You could install two additional dampers on the other side of the lid, so that the kids can ride along in the trailer, but protected against the rain/sun. Lid and roof at the same time!
