I have an Xlyte TH motor...black style, from ElectricRider market as the "Brute"..

to save me stripping it again to count the magnets, any one tell me how many pole pairs it has to enter in to the Cycle analyst

I took a vague stab and put 22.

I just rewired by V3 to take the hall pulses and removed the wheel sender.

Thanks

I thought the brute was a 5300 motor?
the 5300 series hubs have 12, and the Nine Continent 205 series motors have 23 poles.

Yes, 5305R
Electric rider did the earlier brute, silver motor and now the later black casing with pressed steel stator.

I asked Mike at electric rider. He did not know, so opened one up.

46 magnets, do 23 PP is correct

I've just been and checked the CA poles setting on my 5303 and it's 12, also the CA 2.3 manual says:

8.6 Set # Poles

For Direct Plug-in units, this should be set to the number of hall effect
transitions per rotation of the wheel. Crystalyte 400 series hubs have
8, the 5300 series hubs have 12, and the Nine Continent 205 series
motors have 23 poles. For units that use a speedometer sensor and
spoke magnet, #poles should be set to 1, unless you have multiple
magnets on the wheel. The #poles setting can range from 1-99.

The problem is which 5303 yu have...the new one (black ) or the old one silver

My original old 5304 .....you can quite clearly count the 24 magnets. They called this the Brute at ElectricRider..

Now the Phoenix II Brute is a black motor..and from this picture of it...you can see it is labelled X- 5303R and this is also known by them as a Brute.

but it has 46 magnets..so 23 pole pairs..as confirmed by Mile at Electrider

Since there was some confusion over this, and we should probably know anyway, I took one apart to count. Neil is right...there are 46 magnets. I should have done that to begin with but I thought Jim would know off the top of his head, sorry about that!
