I ordered this kit:
http://m.ebay.com/itm/370934929537?cmd=VIDESC

Its your standard Chinese 48v 1000w. Brushless hub motor it says it requires 20.83 amps

I'm thinking of ordering these batteries:
http://m.ebay.com/itm/301164503987?nav=SEARCH

I understand that this will then be 48v 40 amps.

Do I need a different controller then? Should I order different batteries? I'm taking a bike trailer putting 50 pounds in it and a 140 pound rider and asking 12 miles maximum up no more than a 10 percent grade at a maximum speed of 20 miles per hour before recharge 2 hours of total use. I don't think I'm asking too much out of kit. I'm afraid to overpower underpower or fry. I'm prepared to order different batteries different controller parts whatever? Buget left is$ 300 time is two days to order whatever I need to order. Any advice is appreciated. Thankyou.

Thankyou Dan I understand the rookie math mistake now. I'm looking into lithiums and have received approval to increase budget.

You are not the first to mess up the math. I'm sure you won't be the last.

Where are you located? That might get some help on where to buy what you need.

How soon do you need batteries? Most packs are more than the $300. You really gonna need more than you think with garg and passanger.
Did you ask about battery from the kit seller?

It lists tire and tube included. Before using it or even installing, be sure to check if there is a rim strip or rim wrap. Most of the kits like this don't have it and without it you will have continuois flats.

As for battery you will need at least 48v 20AH and you still will need to pedal hard with that load to get up a grade. The whole 12 miles all hilles?

Dan
