I wonder what can be done for ventalation of that motor?

I was thinking the same thing, however I think I will leave it as is and see how it all goes.

I pray for your swingarm survival, those little loops for the bottom pivot scare me the most.

How come the loops worry you? They are unmodified.

I seriously doubt the strength of the extensions will be an issue
its that over engineered...

If putting this rear end in the oven on high for 7 hours will help strengthen it up, I will do it.
I need to find more info on normalising Aluxx SL aluminium. I found this in a search "AluxX SL starts with a 6061 alloy but mixes in a trace amount of copper to form a stiffer alloy"

Ok this has been on the back burner for quite a while.
I just got the rear triangle back from the powder coaters, done in satin black.
I have done a quick assembly to see how it will look. The next stage is to mount the battery and controller and make a cover for them out of lexan.

I welded a bottom bracket cup and the threaded end of a steel crank to a 80mm length of 38mm stainless tube.

I've made some progress with the battery and controller mounting. I'm using the same lexan material and set up that I used on my Giant NRS build.

I have basically finished the battery box now, other than covering it with the carbon fibre vinyl which should be in the post.
The box appears fairly large however it all feels fine between my legs, not too wide.

I have now got this bike running, well thrown together, so I can test the belt drive and idler pulleys.
The original set up with an idler on both sides of the belt proved to be no good. I couldn't get the belt to track correctly and stay on the drive pulley so the tension side(top) pulley had to go.
So I had this.

And now I have this.


This involved some more modification to the top chain stay so I could get a straight belt line.
Some material removal.


And some material addition, this is some 6mm plate shaped to fit inside the chain stay.


Plate inside the chain stay.


This is welded in and partly ground smooth, still a little rough here.


I decide to add some material to the outside as well, this is 4mm plate bent 90 deg and shaped.



Then welded up.


Now I have a straight belt line.


This is how it all looks in testing mode.


Now how does a Cyclone 3000watt motor go on 66volts and 100amps?
Unbelievable! This thing is a monster at 6500watts. The front wheel was lifting just with throttle ie with no help from me pulling back.
Loads of torque, it doesn't seem to slow down on hills and the speed is right where I calculated, 50kmh or just over, I'll put a speedo on soon.
I have only ridden it for about 10min tonight so I still have some small things to sort out, but it gave me a sizeable EV grin.

This is all very exciting! Im curious to know the saturation point for these motors (and whether or not you've surpassed it), as well as what sort of power bursts you find the motor can handle repetitively though a full battery's worth of technical trail riding (safe thermal equilibrium point)


BTW, Nicely resolved dropout clearance issue... alu welding certainly opens up possibilities. should be more efficient too. Beaut job!
