I did take a look at some vids on youtube,
seems like they use centrifugal clutch..
maybe there are different designs..

There is also a centrifugal clutch in there for idling. I'm sure it slips when gears are changed too.

For those of you looking to buy something like this, I will soon be offering just that, I just have to get it built. I will be selling the frame kit, or a full you bolt it together type kit, and also a complete bike. I am shooting for a decent price range not something inflated like the Opti or something. I assure you it will fit the bill for coasting downhill then motoring up easily. Its coming guys and it WON"T weigh 100lbs finished FOR SURE! I will have something fun to show on my site by this weekend...
Power is a fascinating thing, the more you have, the more you want, but the real power is having the restraint not to use it all at once...............Um...Yeah..
