To my eye, it appears to be one of those razor mx bikes. Usually 24v lead powered. 24v scooter motor chain driving a rear wheel.

Pic is way too small/grainy/pixellated; even the enlarged one copied to my pc, zoomed in and sharpened up I can't tell. But it does somewhat resemble the tiny little one I have here, that isn't even 3 feet long or 2 high, with I think 8" wheels, 24V SLA, maybe 250W Unite motor chaindrive at peak.

I wonder what happened specifically to cause the fire? If it's like mine the wiring isn't very good or well-placed, so it could easily have shorted something to the pack, and began heating a wire, burning insulation until the plastic covers fro things ignited, and then off from there to blazing glory.

Mine is like this but with different plastics:

A bike that catches fire. I should have guessed that Luke would want one.

My guess is this one, called Juicebox

I guess that's this one here?

If so, it looks like it is not in production yet, if I understood correctly, and so it is unlikely to be the same as the one that caught fire, although it does look similar.

Razor gets my vote.
    Big hub on front
Lower swingarm stays are almost level w/ ground
Flaming debris on lower triple-clamp (placard)
Flaming debris under front tire (plastic fender)
Square tube frame under battery container.
Have a Nice Day,

TD

There is usually more to the story that doesn't get told by FauxNews...

Those SLAs rarely burst into flames, so my guess is the kid (or his parent) modded the POS with some LiPo.
Have a Nice Day,

Where are the stories about flaming gassers? Where are the stories about exploding lead acid batteries needed to start them? That stuff happens all the time, yet is ignored, but anything happens to an EV and it's news. Even dumba$$es who forget to charge their battery and run out of juice. It really pisses me off. Of course we don't help matters getting kicks out of flaming lipos as if it's entertainment.

Fox doesn't piss me off any more than the left wing media does. Fox's pronounced anti-EV agenda works to my advantage anyway. Actually anti-electric cars works to everyone's advantage, because the longer e-cars get put off, the more chance there is for the development of better transportation, which isn't just electrified versions of the 2 ton behemoths currently run on gas. The correct answer is much smaller lighter lighter vehicles that are a more efficient use of the world's resources. Of course it helps that they're so much fun. Add in the fact that we can build and maintain them ourselves, and it quickly becomes apparent that a good change is inevitable and it will take some of the power away from BIG. That's Big business and Big government. BIG is the world's real problem.

I bet it was just your garden variety dead short. Any vehicle can burn from one, once you spark the plastic to it's flashpoint.

I also have a hunch wires just chaffed through the insulation somewhere, or got pinched to the frame or something, glowed red until the insulation was flaming enough to catch the seat foam or bodywork on fire.

They should do a news story on how my home built electric bikes have never caught fire, and a detailed report of how much pollution I have prevented from adding to this city. And maybe how my ebikes don't disturb the peace and the reduction in traffic congestion, and well we all know I could keep going on...

There should be a news story on the roughly ~1,000 cars/trucks/suv's per day that burn to the ground. (~351,500 annually in the USA)

How about some people talking about how shocked they are that they also carried their kids in a car once, and they never had any idea they could catch fire and burn.

Yeah I tell people this all the time when they cry about how dangerous lipo is and the risks of charging it in their garage. Usually reminding them what of what powers their car and how flamable that is prompts them to realise they have sand in their vaginas

However back to the topic at hand, you guys have it all wrong with what caused this fire, it's not the bikes fault at all!

I just got to feel even better about my recently purchased subaru. The other suv that appealed to me, Jeep Cherokee, just had a big news story about how they rupture their rear carried gas tanks in crashes. Then burst into flames Ford Pinto style.

Having already done the running man on fire thing, I don't like the idea of a repeat.
