hi.. i'm trying to assemble and install a molex 42818 and 42816 connectors, i THINK i got the gist of it, (squeeze the connectors, slide them inside the housing, and then secure the housing bolt on top), but it seems that this bold won't fit in, (unless i pull out the connectors), so what's the secret here?

Change your subject line to "Molex connector problems" or something similar. Wish I could be more help but that might get you going....

The secret is to use Anderson connectors.... :p Why are you using molex? I don't think Anderson connectors require any soldering either.

You can find them on eBay in packs of 10 at dirt cheap prices. Plus they don't have "genders" so it won't matter which end you put on which cable so long as you match each wire to the correct one when assembling the two connectors. :D

it is not my choice, i'm attempting to install a shunt between ecospeed's controller, and it's battery adapters. they are using molex. and i don't want to replace them as well.

+1 for the Anderson connectors.
I solder them before crimping. Fill the cup with silver solder, insert 8 ga tinned wire, crimp 2 spots lightly, coat dielectric grease... The genuine 75A are rock solid and can take 250A bursts. Most of all, they survive the salted streets all the winter and a few mtn crashes in the summer.

What does the other section of the housing look like? I use Molex for a split Ping battery but they did not look like those connectors and had round pins ans hollow ones. You needed a special tool to set them. The are generally not very good for high currents. Andersons are much better.

True. My first kit (Papamotor) came with Anderson power poles, very nice. My second kit came with a Molex connector for power. I looked at my Ping battery pack (with Anderson's) and I looked at my new mid-drive. Ordered a BIG bag of Andersons from Amazon and cut the Molex off the NEW mid-drive. I've never even tried Molex but the Andersons are so good (LOTS of reviews back this up) that I didn't need to consider Molex. Check YouTube for some excellent reviews.
