Can someone tell me what the current available options for seat post motors are for 2018?

I think its the
- Vivace? (200w?) $3500 USD?
- Guber (100w) $2500 USD?

Is there anything else on the market?

Seat post mounted friction motor - Sure there is lots available

Oh I see what you are saying now, looking at
https://www.electricbike.com/gruber-assist/
which is vivax

They are expensive.

I gotta ask why you'd even bother, unless you want the ultimate race deception or maybe your in NYC sticking it to the fuzzies givin em the two middle finger salute.

A quick google...
Faraday Porteur - Cant tell if its a inside the seat post motor or not.

Another option would be a mini hub motor, hidden with Pannier bags and a Phaserunner controller.

Thanks Markz

Looks like the vivax is made in austria...and the only real commercially available option on the market from what I can tell. But you can't buy it outside a VERY specialized dealer network. And the total listed dealers in North America are...1. That's it.

I think the other options you suggested are good...but for seatpost motor, the Vivax (what used to be Gruber?) is the only option.

To bad there was no Asian options that would be reasonably priced (less than $1000 USD)

I can't even find out what the Vivax is worth as there is nowhere online I can find it for sale.

Gruber assist is the original version, Vivax just bought the rights. There are no others of this type. Its only advantage is that it is hidden. For performance, efficiency, heat dispersion, servicing, reliability and cost, it is heavily handicaped.

So, the only good reason for a Vivax assist is to build an invisible power assistance. It is still available, easier to get as complete bikes than motor kit.
