If anyone's interested here a few of the lockable rear bike boxes I've come across to-date:

Let me know if you find anymore...

wish I would have seen that swagman when I was making all my purchases from Amazon. Damn. Those look like good cases. The Zpower one is way way overpriced. I'll probably get that swagman for my new bike. Thanks for letting me know about that. Amazon is my favorite place to order from.

Anyone know of any masculine looking front baskets or front bags for your bike? I want to look masculine, not those threaded frilly baskets that are on female bikes.

The manliest baskets ever were the newsboy baskets of my youth. Simply five straps of 5/32" x 3/4" steel welded into a basket shape with two more straps bolting to it and your axle.
They're ~20" x 14" at the top and ~7" deep. The "basket" is mostly open space meant to carry your shoulder bag full of rolled newspapers.
They're built more like a battering ram than a basket. They'd protect your case of beer in a simple fall over type crash provided it's tied down.

They'd be good frames for fishing net, macrame or woven willow infill to make them more useful. A solid box would add too much wind resistance.

Check the "newsboy" style here.

the swagman/planetbike box is nice, but i wouldn't trust the lock anywhere overnight or anywhere dangerous--it's not all that strong.

For some situations, a plastic pistol box would work well, they come in many sizes (one pistol, 2 pistols 3...)

And whether it for the front or back, these plastic boxes that fold flat when not in use are interesting

I'll probably go with the escape pod. It looks more sturdy than the swagman. People say that the swagman's plastic isn't very thick. Who knows, the escape pod might be just as thin as well unless anyone knows?

Looks like sdelectric sells the rack and the rear box together with everything but I don't see any huge advantage in doing that since I can probably drill holes in one myself and do it all.

Actually, the swagman and escape pod look like the same box. On 2nd thought, I'll probably go with the swagman since it's 50 % cheaper. $32 compared to $64.
