Doc,
Do you think this is a safe way to hook up your torque arms? I have DP420, but i didnt use it with this application. I have about 50 miles on these torque arms @ 10kw on a 5304 so far. They have not loosened up at all. The hub axle has not spun at all either. The axel is still straight up and down (normally, without the dropouts, my hub axel would spin back to about 2 O'clock. Now it stays at 12 O'clock. I know thats not safe, but i did have about 1500 mile son that setup at 8KW w/o dropouts. stupid, i know.)
I welded a plate to your dropouts so it could be mounted, with hardware, to the bike. i also used a lathe to trim down the thickness of the dropout so my axle bolts could untilize enough threads to fully function. If i didnt lathe down the thickness of the dropout, my axle bolts could only use 1-2 threads. As i ran out of axle threads b/c i added the thick dropouts.

Do you think i need to add DP420?

That's a perfect installation  very strong!.. adding the DP420 seems now useless.

Great work and ingenuity! :D That is one beast of a torque arm.

Is the bolt for the torque arm going through a pivot in the rear suspension, or is that a hard tail and you drilled a hole through?

Yea, the bits weren't too happy, but got the job done relatively fast. Thanks!

Okay, then i will leave it as is; without the DP420

Thanks! Im not really sure how to answer that. I guess i would say neither. Its not a hard tail, its a full suspension Kona DH bike. The way the geometry of the suspension is set up, where the bolt goes through is not a pivot point. The pivoting happens above the swingarm, on some additional bracket they built. The pre drilled hole i used, seems to just be where the upper swing arm meets the dropout. It is 100% stationary. All i did was elongate the hardware to accommodate the extra girth from the added bracket. Hope this makes sense.

I'd like to reduce the size of the torque arm. I tried to cut them with a hacksaw but it's like doing nothing.

Any idea how to do cut them?

It might be possible with a bench grinder wheel, unless you know someone with a powerful waterjet??? ;)

To be clear, why try to reduce it? If you're overhanging the edges of your dropout, you could just leave it overhanging. It's going to be a pita to cut. Is your hacksaw fresh and with the metal-cutting profile? You might get luck with some diamond dremel cutters (amazon has some cheap third party sellers) and running water, or a few of the ceramic disks (36 pack is like $6). Also, if you're obstruction is something barely obstructing, for my personally made torque arm I had .06 inches overlap with the wider weld on one of the sides, well, rather than cutting .06 inches off, I just beveled away with a grinder the amount that my torque arm stuck over the weld. (So I beveled a little .06" base triangle that cleared the weld.)
New to endless-sphere? Notice a lot of signatures recommending Ebike.ca? That's because it's the best place for a quality and manageable, (but still 'real'), first build. Justin is a solid supporter of electric bike development, and a good source of equipment.

Just to let you all know once again, This metal is the same as the one used to make some cutting tools... so to cut it you must have great special tools or...alot of patience...... or.. a laser or waterjet cutter

The cheapest way is using a grinder...

Yes! Very true. I probably shouldn't have suggesting making sure the hacksaw had the right profile.

But that's why dremel disks rule :). It's diamond bit disks and ceramic disks are just grinding away a thin groove. I would really dislike grinding any serious amount from something tiny like the torque arm.

Thanks Guys, this torque arm makes me think about my Kryptonite U lock. So tough! lol

But an angle grinder should be able to cut it. Going to get one.

Hello Guys,

Please, dont delay all your great project to wait for the next batch. I'm really busy these days and the vacancy coming so my load is high and i might delay the T-A few more weeks.

Like i said, i never expected that they become so popular and to sale so many of them... it appear i'm victim of their succes

Preparing all them and managing and making follow up on all sales around the world is taking time for me and i dont have alot time now and summer is already at the second half..

ill inform you all once i have more free time to manage that.

I hope you understand guys and i dont want to disappoint you all.
