My bike and go pro sit and wait.... but still no tracking number. I paid shipping 30 minutes after Max sent out the mass email asking for shipping funds. I wonder how Max prioritized this order..?

Me too. Max said something about some personal problems but hasn't elaborated and hasn't responded to email for the past 4 days. I'm getting concerned because I'm moving soon. I'm afraid I'll have to ship my bike before the motor even arrives. Pretty bummed.

Anyone have any other details? How's our boy Max doing? Can someone close by swing by and give him a hand with things?

I think he shipped out stuff on fri. (could have been thur) after which he said it could be 2 weeks if I didn' pay that night. So I made a decision AND PAID. Cass

Did you get a tracking number? I heard that mine was supposed to ship a couple times. But no tracking number.

Someone should swing by and make sure he's alright and hasn't been buried alive in Chinese packing material.

I just got my tracking number from Max tonight. Unfortunetly, the tracking number was too late. USPS claims they attempted to deliver it but no one was home. They also claim they left a note saying they attempted delivery. There is no note. I've been home all day, with another person. Ive had this problem with my driver before. I had to call and file another complaint and have it scheduled for pickup. I don't trust them that they will attempt to actually get out of the truck and walk to my door.

Even if the motor shipped last week, its probably going to take a week to show up in CA. I'm a few hundred miles away and in the same state, so it was fairly quick. The tracking was nearly useless. It showed when he made the label, and then two days later it said 'out for delivery'.

Don't worry, it will show up eventually. Given how hard these motors are to get, and the sometimes questionable track record of group buys, thats not bad.

So has anyone tried to install this motor on the bike yet? I just received my motor and the plastic piece that goes over the wires that come out of the axle is way too small. For me, the plastic piece is going to cut into wires if I tighten the hub. The plastic piece on my 5304 is double the size and would work perfectly if used on this hub- put the plastic piece that came with the hub is about half the size it should be. Even if I drill out the plastic piece, once I tighten the axle bolts it's going to squish the wires and most likely compromise them. What can I do aside from having a custom one made? It would appear if I use spacers or washers or anything like that it will still squeeze the phase wire once I tighten the hub.

I pulled out the plastic piece im having problems with, and I cut it. Have I now have the maximum room possible for the phase/hall wires coming out of the hub, and it still does not fit. The plastic piece is way too small. Even if I remove the plastic piece and used washers or spacers it will still squish the wires once I tighten everything yhebaxle bolts. What is everyone else doing to fix this major major issue?

I think in Doc's review the recommendation was to ditch the plastic and run the cables out the slot in your dropouts.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that and the wires are still getting pinched badly at the 90° point where it bends into the hub. Once u start to tightent the bolt, u see the wire getting squished. Maybe Doc had luck BC his dropouts are really thick. Normal sized dropouts are not thick enough to give the wire the space it needs.

This is exactly what I'm concerned about. I need the bike on a shipping container next week. Otherwise I need to pay to have it shipped yet again. I suppose it's only been a little over 2 weeks since he took delivery, but I'd imagine he'd want to avoid storing the motors for too long.

I'm not slamming Max. He put in a ton of work to put this together. (Big thanks, Max!) I'm was just hoping to get some mountain riding time with the motor before I move away from the mountain roads. It's not the end of the world. Just a bummer.

So I got the hub mounted to a tire and i got everything on the bike. Sungged down the axel bolts, and the tire wouldnt spin!! So i figured the provided spacers were a "must use" spacer, not the spacers for the 150mm guys. So i tried to put the provided spacers on, and they were just too thick. Brought them over to my machinest, had him remove .150 from both of them and it works like a charm now. I assume everyone will run into this issue.

Go to ebikes.ca and get a C-washer or two to get a little extra room. You should be able to position them on the outside of the dropout. Cap it off with one of the SS spacer washers from that site (with the axle-shaped cutout) that won't turn so the wires won't get abraded by the nut when you run it down.

This is the same problem we were talking of in the other thread. My plan is to get more c washers for the wire side, and more axle spacer washers for the non-wire side, so that when you clamp down, the pressure is on the washers, not the freewheel, or wires.

Received my motors today, wooo hooo! What nice looking beasts. I did find metal shavings in the rim holes and sharp edges around them so watch for that otherwise a flat will occur. Can't wait to have the time to fit these to their respective projects. The spokes seem a little pretzeled around on my 26" rim but maybe thats the only way they will work. Anyway...Thanks to those that made this group buy all work out for these awesome motors!

That's what I used, and it worked. I only have a few dozen rotations on the motor, but it appears to be correct.
