I'm kinda new here so....

What are your warranties?

What can these handle for amps/watts?

For more experienced forum members:

Is it a good idea to buy one like this, here on ES?

Are these good controllers, if so what mods can be made to these/do they need them?

What are your experiences with them?

Thanks for all, :)

Gitech, Lyen is a forum member, who's well known for controller building. Check out his site here with links and more descriptions: http://lyen.com/ . All in all he offers the best value in high-power ebike controllers. I doubt there's any warranty, but Lyen is a big help if something goes wrong. If you want something rock solid, and you're not worrying about hacking, and you'd prefer the most reliable controller, go with Methods or ebikes.ca controllers. (same basic design as Lyen's)

We do not stock these, so there will be no warranty (at least from us). However, Lyen is a very helpful person, and will help you through most any problems you may encounter.

On the 2nd picture (sensorless) there are 2 sets of voltage ranges listed and then there is a sticker on the controller itself that says "51V" (I'd assume that this is the low voltage cut-off). Can you clarify what range this is set up to run at right now?

Hi, the first controller labeled 51V has a range of 36-55V and is set up to run at 51V (16S lifepo4) "out of the box" however, these are programmable controllers so you can set them up however you like with the usb-ttl cable (sold separately by Lyen).

The second controller (no picture), is set up to run at 21S lipo or 78V out of the box, but it is programmable as well. Voltage range is 72-88V

I'm going to have a bafang 36V500W. I'd like to test 55.5V and 74V on the motor. Would the controller works?

If you get the ones with hall sensors, it would work fine for both voltages. However, I do not know the hall/phase sequences that match to your motor, so that would be something you would need to figure out.

If you do a search on this forum you can find the answer. I remember at least 2 threads mentioning how to do it, but I do not remember the exact places. Note that with 3 hall wires (excluding the red positive and black negative wires) and 3 phase wires, you have maximally 36 individual combinations (because A-1, B-2, C-3 is exactly the same as B-2, C-3, A-1).

So, you should be able to figure it out in a short time. Just make a table with the different combinations. Add easy plugging connectors to the wires, but beware of shorts. Put the bike on a stand so that the wheel can turn. Add the battery. Connect the first combo, and turn the throttle. Find all the combinations that make the wheel turn the right direction. Then start comparing these combos and find out which is the best over the whole throttle range.

That should do it.

Ok thanks. But I don't even know what are hall/phase sequence so I'm not sure where to search. A bit of help please? :)

The search button is in the upper right of this page, and you already identified that you need to find out what halls and phases are, so those would be good search terms to start with. You have a lot of research/education ahead of you, but you are in the right place to find it, and the journey can be a lot of fun. This forum is chock-full of EV goodness, but you have to spoon it into your mouth yourself. :D
