GoPed Sport Electric Conversion

Hi

I wanted to share with you my scooter conversion process for electric power.
This is an old chassis of GOPED SPORT and RC electrical equipment

Installed components are:
*Motor : Chinese 6364 230KV from Hobbyking
*Controller : Hobbyking 190-200A
*Servo tester
*BEC
*Batteries : nano -tech 45C 5S 5A X2

Most parts were constructed of composite materials, the final weight is 8 KG.
The motor take me (80KG) easily and never warms up even on long rides.
Speed ​​is 25 KPH with a 1:5 gear and range is about 10-12 KM per charge.

Awesome job! Is the carbon cut from hard sheet, or did you 'brew' it yourself? Wish my scooter was 8kgs, but then again I'm aiming for 50km/h+....

Don't be surprised.. now I'm working on 5 cells instead of 6 , as soon as I change my battery I will get to 30.
I have transmission for power insted speed because I live in a mountainous area..

I cut the motor and rear wheel parts made from purchased plate (thickness is 2.5 mm)
Plate and the part for carrying made by me with 180 g/m carbon fabric

Consideration in selecting the components were made only by weight since I'm a student and need to take it with me between classes...
I have a few more projects which go much faster, hoping that soon I will have the time to upload them

i guess im not the only one that has converted a goped sport from gas to electric. heres mine that ive converted:

the gasser one in the background has nothing on this one.

yours is way better than mines by a long shot.

After two months with my scooter it's time to move on...
sold my goped and got myself GOPED GTR
I'll sell the engine because petrol driven scooters are Illegal in Israel and replace it with 80-100 brushless

a trail ripper platform should be pretty good. IMO i think thats probably one of the best gopeds to date.

that should be a great electric scooter when its done, especially with an 80-100.

i remember running into this thread, not to scare you about having that scooter, but more of a caution. there have been stories of the front fork failing at the stem.

Yes , your Goped..
This chassis lay in my house for a long time and when I saw what you did I started working on my..

Like a car, motorcycle or any other vehicle you are riding it ,a person needs to check it from time to time and maintain it .. Cracks happened somtimes..
the chassis of GTR considered reliable because of suspension.

These wheels are only good for driving on roads. on sidewalks it's a nightmare.
I agree that pneumatic tires and suspension are better..

The only scooter in Israel which use solid tires is Goped Iped..

I follow your project from the beginning, looks very good!

there was not a heating problem because the transmission was for slow speed (25-30 km/h)
The engine stays cold even after long climbs ( My weight is 80 kg)

Because the RC equipment light and have good performance, I recommend you consider using it in small scooter ..

The reason that i didnt using RC motor,
1. This kind of motor have low efficiency 40-50%
2. Generate lot of heat , that lead to short life time.
3. Low torqe, and high RPM, all this system generate lot of noise.

Generaly, this motor did not designed for heavy loads.

But i fan of small things.
Maybe in my next design i will try combin motor like you have, can you give me link for specification of your motor.

40-50% is not quite accurate... you may be running the motor in not the best conditions to be getting that bad efficiency. The 6054 should be powerful enough, but if you're running near 30mph you might want a more powerful motor. One option is to take a lower Kv 80100, rewire as wye/star, and it should still cope with the power demands of ~2kw. RC motors are just BLDC motors, so they might be inefficient in the sense they're not the highest quality if purchased from a cheaper place, but they can be decent in the right conditions.

Definitively requires a lot of reduction. I've been told you want to replace the ball-bearings on the hobbyking motors if you're running above 5k rpms, but at 5s I guess you're running at 4k and might be ok. The high heat might be a factor of the smaller motor being stressed throughout accelleration in these high demands.


I hear you have some of the coolest scooter designs in israel! At least all the cool ones sn0rkal posts, seem to be from Tel-Aviv.
