Folding bikes must be all the rage right now, because in the first 3 days Storm sold more than 4 1/2 million dollars of these bikes. One will be mine. They come with a few options. The standard model is 350w 8.8 ah 36v for $699. For $100 more you can get 17.5 ah. There's also a deluxe model called the, Fold X that comes with a 500w 48v 14 ah for $899. For an additional $100 you can get all models with a 7 speed Shimano derailleur. Color choices are Red, Black, or Silver. I ordered Red.

We all knew you were in the Sondors fold.

Sondors has done so well, he needs to consider entering a different ebike market.

One that offers a great looking ebike { which he does anyway} with a 48 volt / 20 AH battery system and a 1000 watt D.D. hub motor with suspension for $1799 or less.

I think offering this in a fatbike or even a mountain bike that had 2-3" tire width , would be a big seller. It would give the better power and range needed for most adults.

Keep it simple but solid, with a standard 7 speed cassette and offer it in small, medium , large sizes.

Can a moderator please edit post #1? Those prices need to be converted to shillings.

Ordered on May 5th, arrived on August 11th. 3 months, and 3 days.

Looks like the Fold is even more Amazing than the Fatty's if that's possible. What a beautiful hydro formed frame. The Fold is expected to out sell the Fatty's, and seeing it in person you can understand why. The frame is a sexy masterpiece of curvaceous hydro formed bike porn. The possibility's for this bike are mind blowing.

Sondors FOLD Electric Folding Fat Tire Bike -Test Drive - Review :

No regen (regenerative braking)? = Hugh FAIL... Especially as bike is rated as "heavy". [Sigh] Upgrade or mod perhaps?

Gotta admit, it looks cool/ sleek, just like the original sondors fatbike in yellow. Problem is taller riders wont be comfortable on it. With those small wheel, Id imagine a 48 volt - 40 amp power system, would really have a lot of torque for hills.

Frame looks very solid.

I'm hoping what we're looking at here is the future. I'd like all the future Sondors to utilize this type of frame technology. The next bike should have a 2" longer wheelbase, and 24" fatty wheels.

Power isn't really an issue with me, because legally it's never going to have the power I want, so I'm ok with keeping the power low to hold costs down. That allows me to soup it up as much as I please, and can afford.

Yeah, but for many people, the idea of spending $700 on a ebike, then having to upgrade it for more power and spend another $500 on battery /controller, isn't ideal. I just think it may be beneficial for sondors to offer a 48 volt- 25- 40 amp controller/ battery/ motor system, for $1000 shipped , this way the buyers don't have to worry about additional money spent, becoming mechanically inclined to do mods , and the downtime associated with replacing components . etc.

IMHO, the 1000 watt hub drive systems are the sweet spot. Bring it to market at the right price, in a good looking package and I think it could be another huge seller.

This Fold X is 48v 500w. The bafang 750w motor like many of us have fit inside our stock Fatty hub, will also fit in the Fold's hub. It only takes like 5 minutes to change, so it would be very easy for Strom to do, and that motor is about strong as a 1000w direct drive. 80Nm

Is the controller in the rear frame?
I like that frame. It's a great looking package, imagine they'll sell very well. These are apparently to be released in my country.
So you will either need to buy a Sondors battery (to upgrade or renew) or DIY.
I imagine the proprietary battery will put some off (without DIY or hacks to carry external batteries).

I'd like to buy the frame :)

Yes, the controller is to the rear of the hinge, and the battery is to the front of it. It looks like it will be really easy to hack the battery compartment, and install a different battery. The stock Panasonic 48v 14 ah battery pack is good quality, and I'm getting 40 miles practical range.

One thing this bike has got that no other bike has, is a 6500 member owners group that will have this battery hacked to pieces toot sweet, and aftermarket replacement battery's will be available from multiple sources guaranteed.
