Is there a freewheel removal took made that will fit over a Bombers axle without modifying it?

No there isn't. You need to get a standard tool and grind it to fit. Its case hardened so its a pain to do. You will need a die grinder with a an abrasive attachments that will get though the case hardening. Don't try drilling or filing it. You will wreck you tools.

Fighter uses a different tool. It uses a standard shimano tool. It may need a bit of internal grinding too. I need to remove a freewheel from a Fighter this weekend so I will soon find out.

Yep, I bought a standard cheapy then used a lathe to open the hole out big enough to clear the axle - you'll need to to be atleast 15mm

I NEED A LITTLE TECHY HELP

Hi Guys, I did a ride out last weekend and the bike got quite muddy so I washed it down with hot soapy water as normal and then lightly hosed off with hot water. Dried in the sun with a leather and then an air line, finished off with a bike spray to stop rust. I put the bike away and got it out a week later, turned it on and woah.....FULL throttle 4.3kw big wheelie and luckily I shut it down quickly.

I then turned the key on again, of again, on etc....it either goes Wot (wide open throttle) or nothing at all, I.e. the throttle does nothing. I have checked the 5pin sensor wire by the crank and that is dry as a bone. Do we think this is a controller issue, a throttle issue or maybe a ca issue?

Any ides.....

I have taken the end cover off the controller to let it air and the side panel is off the bike to allow airflow there.

Normally I would just ping this to John but expect he is on his weekend now.

im guessing that you got the throttle sensor wet, which if its a hall can mess it up. try unplugging the throttle and firing it up, see if it still takes off

I am not 100% sure where the throttle sensor is. The throttle (magura) is hard wired to the ca, I think. I have unplugged the phase wires and re,plugged but they were bone dry.

Thanks for your help, just need pointing in the right direction.

Thanks, I will open it up and clean it.

It certainly was "interesting" as I opened my gates on to a busy road and turned the key. 4.3 kw was the number I saw as the bars came up to my face and the bike shot off!

Since this experience I behave differently:

Gromith's "Handle the beast" seven step guide v1.0:
1. put your fat ass on the beast
2. hold de rear brake as hard as you can
3. turn the key with your free right hand (or the left for those which still think this is a mountain bike lol)
4. wait 5 seconds
5. wait antoher 30 seconds to get rid of the adrenaline
6. take your heartrate down
7. reeelaaaax. Your trottle seems to be dry.

A Magura throttle is a resistive throttle that acts as a voltage divider to vary the voltage signal to the controller.

A Hall throttle uses a hall sensor to vary the voltage signal to the controller.

To check your Magura throttle, carry out the following.

Unplug the motor from the controller to make the bike safe to work on live.

Remove the Magura throttle from the handle bars and dismantle so that the 3 pot wires are exposed. (very easy to do)

Using a multi meter, check the voltage between the two outside pins. It should be 4V or 5V. Also check if the meter reads positive or negative so you can determine which wire is the ground.

Now measure the voltage between the middle leg and ground at zero throttle. It should read less then 1V.

Also measure the voltage at full throttle to make sure you are seeing 4V to 5V.

If it is reading more then 1V at zero throttle, then you have a problem with the pot.

Hope that helps.

You can get a suitable charger from HobbyKing and use a parallel charging board to charge all 3 packs at once.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__11340__TURNIGY_MEGA_400W_Lithium_Polymer_Battery_Charger.html

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__15237__Parallel_charging_Board_for_6_packs_2_6S_T_Connector_.html

You would need to make up some adapters also.

Just to be clear though, this is only suitable for bike converted to LiPo, not a standard battery setup.

After riding in mud, it's not a bad idea to check the hall connector, it can get moisture inside and cause erratic operation though it does sound like yours is/was the throttle.

hi Toby i would be surprised if it were the throttle? my maguras are out in all weathers, the pot inside the housing is well sealed too? double check it, if you suspect it is the tnrottle but dont want to wait for a new one from oz, 4qd here in the uk should stock them.

Yeah Knoxie is right, I didn't catch the Magura part. I have one on my Bomber and it has been drenched more times than I can remember - and not a hitch. I've had water in the hall connector a few times, causing grinding & stuttering but never stuck WOT.

Just looked at the throttle and I hav 4.5 volts across red and black and 2 on othe wire, cannot test at full throttle as not enough hands. I am about to reassemble. Odd thing is that you turn the key and it goes to wot, then dies back to nil and throttle has no input I.e. makes no change.

I will check every connection and dry out if I see any moisture.

Ok, all back together, all connections checked, dried with airline and then hair dryer and the bike is back to 100% normal.

Now I do not know which part was to blame but I am going to recheck and check again.

Thanks for all your input guys.....really appreciate as I have a week of cycling in 2 weeks time.

Just in case I have now replaced the hall connector with an ip67 rs connector that dlogic helped me get ages ago when I got water in the original part, I had wrapped the old plug in electrical tape and then heat shrinked so I do not think this was a problem but as I had the waterproof connector I thought I may as well solder it on. (I checked ages ago with John that he was ok for me to do this) bike seems perfect again. There is a chance it as the hall as before I reset the ca there was a top speed recorded of 530mph....it used to do that when the old connector got damp.

One extra bit of info...the throttle doesn't actually say magura on it but I thought they were as standard on stealths? Maybe not? I wouldn't say there was much of a seal on there.
