Here is a picture of an 8 speed twist shifter mounted on the left side. Numbers are upside down and twisting towards you gives you a higher gear. Feels logical as twisting towards yourself is for higher speeds.

Here's one to make your head spin...

The SRAM Attack 9 speed gripshift set is the same on the LH and RH sides, just different labels. I bought the left hand '3 speed' one designed for for a front mech with a triple and it actually has 9 clicks and shifts fine on a 9 speed rear Shimano LX derailleur.

So then the one CD mentioned will do the job. Cool.

Correct.

The older (400 series ?) work well with 7/8 speed

Thanks guy's. I think I'll give it some more thought/research before I go on a spending spree.

Who knows I might just end up getting Glowworm to do it all. :) LOL

Hi guys, just to let you know that John sent me 2 replacement cells for my pack, and after 3 hours of carefull work my pack is all together and well again :-)
But..... All is not well :-(
My bike will not pull over 3.3kw under load. I noticed this a couple of weeks ago and put it down to the 2 bad cells in the batt pack bringing the voltage down, but now ive tried it with a fully charged healthy pack and still no joy. I then thought it could be the bms, as the readout from the CA is showing at WOT it is pulling 43A only.
So i then tried an 18s lipo setup, but same results. Then a 20s setup and still the same, just with 7kw peaks under initial acceleration but then settles back to 3.3kw or 43ish amps.
Ha anyone had a similar problem or any ideas?
My thinking is controller or CA? Or both?
Lol, or maybe im cursed with bad luck!!! Typical that we are having our first UK meet up this year this coming Saturday :-(
Cheers Dave

We're north Nottingham. Went for the grey and the green. Ordered standard bikes, if they need upgrading will look at later but the standard spec looks up to the job

Check the voltage on the battery leads and the charge leads....it must be the same. I had a Bomber BMS go bad and it read 86 volts on the charge ports and 60 volts on the battery output plug. Replaced the BMS and all was well.

I bought a new controller from John with re-gen, installed it and the bike will now only pull 3600 watts and speed drops 10 MPH....replacement should be in the mail so its possible for a controller to do that.

I forgot to ask what your low voltage cutout is set on?

If set higher than 70 volts it can do what you are seeing.

Thanks for the quick reply, ive had the bike running on a 20s Lipo setup, with no bms and its still the same. Looks like a controller issue then. I have my lvc set to 69 volts.

Hi Dave

You got continuity on all phases of your motor? have you noticed any strange cogging? does it always run from a standing start? this sounds like either motor or controller, you might have a phase out on the controller you can check this with a DVM by checking for continuity between the phase leads and the supply should be meg ohms, I have seen controllers run with high and or low side fets out however its normally noticeable as being a pretty rough ride.

I have broken and repaired so many controllers and bits in my time you kind of get a feel for it, I can have a look for you on Sat and of course if Toby is up for it we can diagnose the problem by simply swapping bits over, thats sometimes the best way of doing it, I do have a brand new 40A 72V controller here an old analogue one that would also prove or disprove it, If it is the controller they can be repaired fairly easily, I have swapped whole banks of fets on many different controllers.

Anyways 3KW is more than enough to play with me on my little old BMX  I keep the voltage down on the old girl these days to be reliable.

Hi ManxE. What is that in front of your RH light, looks like a fork or a small shearer??????????????

If ya can't beat 'em ............ eat 'em!
It IS a GoPro bar mount. The RH 'light' is actually one of those loud electric horns - worth considering if you want to warn people (or sheeple) that you're bearing down on them at a great rate of knots, spraying mud and swearing. I just hit the regen button on the left at the same time as sounding the horn and clutching the brakes... seems to have the desired effect when I'm
On the left fork is a clip-on bottle cage - very handy as there's nowhere else to put one on the Bomber frame...

True, but there is another solution. I have one of these.

Works well. Bit pricey, but it works well, and hasn't had any issues so far.

Am fitting Hookworms to my Bomber today. Will post some pics tonight! The Crazy Bobs have a little too much tread movement for tarmac use(i think) which should provide a bit more stability , particularly for my metro area demo purposes. 2ply items NOT 1ply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
