Have you noticed much of a power diffrence going from the 12s to 14s ?

There is a big difference on 14s. Feels much better power wise. The bike was only on 12s in the video because im making a new harness. Ill post another vid as soon as that is done with it running on 14s.

Can you give us more info on the big hit frame mods please? What type and thickness of Ali did you use and am I right in thinking you didn't need to jig it up? Did you weld in any gussets? Any heat treatment?

I have a big hit sat in the garage just gagging for similar treatment.

Billsy, no jigging was needed, its still perfectly inline.
6061 alloy plate, 4mm for the bottom long base and 3mm for the rest. No heat treatment has been done, and all my riding so far has not caused and stress fractures or cracks yet. That includes some 5ft drop offs, a set of 30 steep steps and 15-20ft bmx park jumps.
I didnt do the welding, im crap at it. I can tack and thats about it. A friend of mine who worked at Spondon for 15 years (motorcycle frame builders) did the tig welding. His skills are fantastic!
He is now into e-bikes himself after playing with this and my Bomber, and he will work on any frame anyone wants modding. A copy of mine will cost roughly £270 now we have a pattern for the box section.

thats good to know, i have a norco savage and a norco team dh which are v similar to a big hit which would benefit massively from a box in frame. btw Massively admire your tidy work here.

How did you strip the paint off? Bead blast?

That specialised has turned out really nice ,Any idea what model /year BH is best to have your mate build,I cant seem to stop riding my kona stinky long enough to cut it up,But getting fed up lugging lipo around in a rucksack,one other small question how do you stop chain suck or is it not a problem on a BH ,The stinky is a nightmare when on the last 3 rings,cyclone has proved reliable tho.

The frame thats best is the one with the little triangle near the seatpost tube. But we can adapt for the earlier curved frames.
The chain suck was a problem but is now solved with a chain device. I will post pictures as soon as ive powdercoated it and fitted again. Ive made a new bracket to hold the chain rollers so the chain cant sneak up the side of the swingarm, but it also helps that im not using the std cyclone chain rings.

Thanks Dave,The big hit was on my shopping list but a stinky came up for the right money .I look at your cyclone build and Timmas and cant believe how bad they make my bike look ,but I built it really quick to test it and just keep riding it,Still not sure if cyclone isthe way to go from a noise point of view tho.The fun police in the New forest would have kittens if they knew.

I know what you mean about the noise, i dont notice it that much now though. My frame will also work perfectly with hub motors aswell. I can comfortably fit 9 x 6s 8ah zippys with room for wiring and balance boards.
Im sure i could do the same with your Stinky
