+1 for different forks, the originals are prone to bending. Those swingarms can be mounted to larger frames, too. Did you get a sense of the performance difference of knobby vs. smooth tires?

Big time, the moped tires have much better grip. Now I need taller gearing. The stock freewheel is a 20T

What front fork did you choose and why?

Tommy L sends.....

Rockshox Dart 3 because I had them lying around in the garage.

Hit 30mph on 10S

(Sigh)

I search and I search, others simply stumble onto them. . . .

I just did a random search on craigslist for electric bike, and found it!

I'd pay him less than that since your going to want to swap out parts anyway, I really just got it for the frame. Since it has a large battery storage area, full suspension.

The lead acid batteries are junk, I switch those out for lipo. Stock fork and rear shock were swapped out for Rockshox Dart 3 and Fox Float R.

I'm running the stock currie motor at 40v and it hauls ass, but I'm gonna be replacing it with a bigger motor in the future.

But its such a fun bike, its like a trials bike / mini motorcycle / urban assault / backyard / sidewalk / park / very versatile bike.

I do a DAILY search, Mongoose CX, Mongoose Electric. The rare hit begins the process of my getting no response from the seller.

I'm not sure, was it 4 years ago I started? Normal price to see when they do pop up is around $75.

I almost got one of these once, But apparently it is just some guy in Connecticut that has one posted on craigslist for the last 2 years and its sold already but he insists on keeping the post there. Or maybe he is scamming :) never know. The video of that motor spinning makes it sound pretty quiet. I would have thought it to be loud and annoying.

Here's one in the GTA for any Ontarians...bit pricey

I'd probably buy that though if I had some way to get it home. Looks like a real fun platform

Usually you can see the original forks bent backward in pictures, but they're bent forward in the kijiji ad. the original forks are very weak.

The main useful bit on the CX450 is the swingarm because it can be bolted to larger rear-suspension frames. The CX450 frame is small and isn't comfortable to pedal while on the saddle for average adult size. If you're not expecting to pedal, the CX450 is a fun configuration.

I swapped out the front fork asap.

Its a fun bike, with 16 inch moped tires, 20T freewheel, and 40volts it has torque. It can carry me and my fiance at the same time, we hit 23mph while riding together. With the 16T we were hitting 25mph and 29mph while riding alone.

The front fork and rear shock would definitely need upgrading whether they worked or not...and I'm short so would be perfect for me. Evolutiongts definitely peaked my interest with all his damn fun looking videos

Acceleration Run, 20T freewheel, geared for 25mph and good torque. Loud high rpm operation.

Big block has arrived.

Still waiting for machine shop to finish machining the shaft.

With 22t and 9t Currie motor, 22mph top speed its perfect for short trips around town.

Its a Mongoose CX24v450w I picked up for Craigslist for $60. Tossed the SLA batteries and used 40v Hobbyking Lipos.

Also switched out the 20" Bmx tires for 16" Shinko SR714 Moped Tires.

Changed the rear sprocket from 20T to 22T, giving more torque for hill climbing and acceleration.

Added Cycle Analyst, and a headlight that runs off the battery pack.(10-85v)

Upgraded the suspension to Rockshox Dart 3 and Float Float R

BHT 1000w brushless motor mounted and ready.

Sweet. I'd love to hear your thoughts about choosing which side to drive and whether you will retain a pedal drive.

This will be a motorcycle build so foot pegs only.
