24V non-SLA battery.

Postby StudEbiker » Mon Jun 20, 2011 2:36 pm

I bought a bike that needs a decent 24v battery. It has a 360w Cyclone kit on it which I think has a 15 amp controller. I'm just looking for a good basic affordable battery. Anyone??

6s lipo pack ;)

The pack will range from 25.2v fully charged ( 4.2v/cell ) to 21.6v discharged ( 3.6v/cell ). If there is a LVC, then this works perfectly.

Run two 6s hobbyking lipos in parallel and you'll have a 10ah pack for under $100.
Downside: you need to invest in the tools to charge and monitor lipo.

The girlfriend bike: 350W front MAC on a 700c Trek.
The wheelie machine: 20" Rear Magic Pie II on a Trek 4300 MTB
The Bus: ??? on a 'da bomb' cargo bike frame

Pro-tips for noobs: Avoid BMS Battery like the plague | Charge RC Lipos to 4.15v, stop discharging at 3.5-3.6v | Use torque plates/arms! | Rear mounted hubs are always best

That sounds like a plan, Neptronix, but this bike is for re-sale so I need something novice friendly.

8s liFe could work with an sla 24v charger. Not exactly cheap though. Maybe something like TS is least costly. I think for really cheap lead is the only thing that is going to do it.

I was thinking someone here might have a pack to sell.

Ah, wouldn't have advised that if so. Good luck, there has got to be someone who upgraded a cyclone or weaksauce hub motor and has a spare 24v batt...
