I have a heinzmann 500 watt geared hub motor on a 26 in whell with a new tire and factory 36v controller with thumb throttle and cruise switch plus a aftermarket 48v brushed controller, It will run alot faster @ 48v and the motor still stays good and cool. a complimentory bump.. these Heinz motors are not too shabby ... i recently bolted one up and run 36v 40 amps in it.. peppy!!... they are geared so they put out good power off the line.

Agreed. That was my first experience with e-bikes, building one back in 2000 that had an 800W Heinzmann hub. I had to recalibrate my sense of what constituted normal e-bike quality when I came across Chinese made stuff later.

Some Heinzmann motors are German made, and some Chinese-- but they are all built to German spec and approval.

the front motor can be mounted in a narrow fork too.

i am saving mine for the front of an actionbent recumbent. a 16" front with 105mm spacing and i can get the motor to 108 so it should work.

Is this a front hub motor or a rear? The assumption is rear.
