I finally finished the crank sprockets and of coarse I couldn't wait to see it with the rest of
the unit. I haven't made the chain tensioner so I clamped something in place.

I am so booked right now. I have a one man shop and I spend four days a week working
to pay the bills and a day or two to work on my stuff and also try to be a husband and grandfather.

Yeah, the Sick Bike Parts freewheel crank setup is nothing fancy, but this project is
really not about fancy even though it is coming out that way. I want it to functionally
kick ass. I have a centrifugal clutch idea worked out in my head that will adapt to
the MS torque limiter setup. As the setup spins faster it tries to spread and tightens
the 'sandwich'. I think it would be great to nail the throttle, have the motor hit about
3 grand and the clutch start to lock up smoothly and be locked at 4 grand. Do a burn out
from a dead stop in the dirt. That's what I want.

Yeah, I am copying what the Rekluse clutch does. I am guessing what
is in the EXP model. It is basically going to be wedges at about 30 degrees
with one that has some weight to it that flies outward by centrifugal force.

The news is that I got all the mechanical stuff buttoned up today and my friend Stuart and I
hooked up the electrics and duct taped them to the bike with a servo tester for a throttle.
I plugged in the power just like 20 times before and the deans connector blew up in my face.
The HV110 had a fried spot where it was up against the frame. Oops. We then made a trip
to the local hobby store where they programmed a HV160 ICE controller and gave us a
smoking deal and we headed back to the shop. After a soldering session, I apprehensively
plugged it in. It made all the right sounds so we took it outside and I turned on the servo tester
and took off. I ran it through the gears but was not impressed. The clutch was slipping and
when I put it in the taller gears the chains were rubbing each other (I haven't done the chain guides yet.)
We adjusted the clutch (not enough) and it pulled harder. We took some video but it is pretty lame.
It really needs a real throttle and the clutch adjusted properly. I am doing stuff as fast as I can and
keep life going at the same time. I would love to spend tomorrow working on it but I need
to run a machine and weld. I would have some pictures but a can't find the friggin' camera.

I hunted for my camera and found it under the back seat of my truck. What the F*#@.
Anyways, here are some pics.

I like my chain tensioner. The spring attachment is kind of tacky.

All the electrical is tacky, but will all be contained between the plates. The batteries
will be attached to a quick disconnect skid plate (see the original sketch at the beginning),
so the idea is that you flip the bike upside down (onto the seat and handlebars) and pop off
the skid plate with the batteries attached and put on a skid plate with fresh batteries and away you go.
To me the ideal scene would be to have a BMX track that looped so it was continuous. It would have
several sets of double jumps and bowl turns so you didn't loose much momentum. You would
go out on your electric downhill bike and ride the track like it is was a mini supercross track. You
would pull off when your batteries went flat and you would go rest and work on the bike and put
some fresh batteries on and go out again. Shampoo, rinse, repeat until you got too tired, or crashed
too hard or broke your bike. Sick, I know, but that is just me.

I just got home from work and I thought I would take a ride on the bike. Before I did,
I tightened the clutch about a third of a turn because when I watched the video I could
hear the motor winding full rpm all the time. All I can say is HOLY SHIT !!!!! This thing
is a 60 lb. rocket ship. I had to lean over the handlebars and the thing accelerated hard
and wheelied like a 125 motocross bike. And I should know because my favorite ride is
my 2005 YZ125. Man, I can't wait until I have a real throttle so I could hang on with two
hands.
I am so hooked on electric now. All the stories I've read about fast in these forums is now
real for me.

Simply great - right idea, great machine work.

Mate, seriously - you should make these for sale. With a ISCG standard mount it will fit most of FR/DH kites. And the quality of parts does not come close to the 1200W Cyclone.

I will be the 1st to order - my Kona Stab is begging for such "box".

Let me get the first one worked out. I am going to make one for my riding buddy that
got me into this mess, then I will do a round of maybe three units for beta testing,
and we will see how that goes.
