That is seriously twisted. Amazed that the motor can withstand such abuse, even for a short time.

There's no chance of one somehow getting to Aus is there?

Thought I might as well ask :)

If not I guess I'll just hide until the next Aus group buy thread shows up :|

Hey Cheeseboy, if it made it doable I might consider going in with you as well, and we could get them both shipped to you in Sydney, and I would get mine from you. Just throwing it out there in case that made it more viable.

Would that include us freaks in the Antipodes? Or only for US/Euro addresses?

if there is a good number of canadian orders (or AUS/NZ orders for that mater) could we look at splitting the final shipment into at least two different countries? For us shipping to the US and then up here is brutal, whereas it's infinetly cheaper and faster to not go through customs twice.

i don't see any problem with sending to australia. as said, it is possible to send the motor to your door directly from crystalyte factory.

all i need for now is how many people are ready to commit to buy and pay in advance.

all you need to know i guess, is the shipping cost. :?:

I gave an example of USA address to Kenny to calculate the shipping costs.
Another option is sea shipping if we get good number of motors. One of the members here offered his help to get the motors by sea.

I asked Kenny about possibility of getting a single speed 5404. to make the axle shorter to fit more standard 135mm bikes.
He said it would be possible but MOQ would be 50 pieces.

i was thinking the shorter axle lenght would encourage more people to get those motors...

BTW... wojtek, can you ask kenny to make them with 10 awg phase wire instead of 14 or 12 like usual?

it's not really complicated for them i think...

@Doctorbass- Which controller recommend for 5403 and 5404 and Edward Lyen recommended me run at 24 fets controller to avoid over stress on the controller like 5303 tend blow up the controller easily.

that is exactly what i got: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewto ... 31&t=19719

re the wires, i am thinking to not only ask about 10awg wire but also upgrade of hall sensors based on Lowracer experience:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24805&hilit=5404&start=45

"BUT, I must admit that in a 5hours test run one of the china hall sensors is broken!

I've got figured out, that the hall sensors, the ball bearings and the axle are cheap china trash!

Now I change the 3 sensors against HONEYWELL SS40,
and I change the ball bearings against SKF 6004-2RS / SKF 6005-2RS,
and I change the axle against a new selfmade 12.9 STEEL AXLE with build-in torque support!"

I dont know what of those things Kenny will agree to upgrade, but one sure thing - i will push hard for those changes. No point to get motors that will stop running after short period of time. little problem for experienced people who can fix it / upgrade it. But like me, i cant do it so i want it right in first place.

Will see where i go with it. But again, our power lies in good amount of orders, so please keep coming

any controller can work with the 5403 or 5303.. if the voltage of your battery is lower than the voltage of the controller mosfet...

the problem appear only if you drive.. let say 24s lipo ( 100.8V full) on a controller with the best mosfet.. but that are rated 100V... the problem is that at low rpm with agressive throttle demand, the phase current make the controller to receive HV voltage spike and it blow the mosfet...

BNut if you drive let say max 24s LiFePO4 or 20s lipo, you will not have any problem anyway the controller is a 6 mosfet or a 36 mosfet... you just need to respect the thumb rules of 50A phase current max per 6 fet and you'll never haver any problem

ex.. a 20s lipo setup with a 5303 or 5403 with a controler of 18 fets and 75A battery current and 150A phase current will work perfect

But personally for more torque and safety i would go with the 5404..... it remain the best winding ever made i think..( easy on the controller if you drive 100V battery and 100V fet controller)

I dont understand why people have so many problem with teh hall sensor... generally it's the wiring that melt because it's not rated more than 105 celsius... my 5303 had over 250 celsius o the winding and the hall remain ok... ( but i had replaced the wire with teflon skin wire)

Count me in for x5404. Near San Francisco, US.

+1 on requesting upgraded wires and halls

Can we get some more info on stretching 135mm cromoly dropouts to 150 and/or modding the axel to 135? Is the axel mod something I could get a local machine shop to do for ~$50? I'm considering stretching out a Yuba Mundo to 150mm.

YEP, that's right!
If a hall sensor doesn't work, you can feel that, then the motor don't run!

All in one, this motor is a masterpiece, high torque without gearboxes.
I've got ridden it now more than 3500Km. Excellent!
