Hyena wrote:Yep, that hefty shipping price is why I suggested going by sea. I paid the premium last time (which wasn't quite as much on the lighter Hx motors) but it still still adds a fair bit to the bottom line. With these motors being more costly to start with + being heavier makes it less economical to send my air.
When he says he'll send door to door in lots of 10 he means to a single address - so you'd still have to redistribute them from a single address each country. This is what I had to do with my order.
I think we should push for the 135mm drop out spacing, or atleast have them made compatible so we can use a single speed freewheel if we want to fit them to a 135mm drop out. Having them made for 150mm spacing only would limit interest from members here I suspect.
Also is everyone aware of just how heavy these motors are ? They seriously weigh a tonne and dramatically affect the overall feel of the bike.

wojtek wrote:so as you can see from the previous post, shipping costs of one un-laced motorhub:
USA $236.00
Australia $198.00
I have asked for some upgrades that you guys mentioned and will see what response i get.
totally agree with Hyena, it may make more sense to order them laced via sea shipping. [if the quality of lacing and rim is good]
If Kenny is not up for upgrades, Farfle will have a lot of work to do

Depending on the reply from Kenny, and the overall quality of the motors when they get here, it may be cheaper for some members to ship them to me for mods first, I don't want to post my business details on your thread Wojtek, but if anyone has any questions feel free to shoot me a PM. [edit] If it makes a difference in shipping pricing I have a commercial address to ship to if your sending a pallet of motors [edit]

Floont wrote:Count me in for a 5404 rear hub motor with disc mount. I live in Florida, but it may be more practical to have it shipped to JohnRobHolmes for him to lace to a rim I have yet to buy from him.
Regardless, count me in on one 5404 purchase.

Can you tell that I work in a business where people mix up model numbers fairly often?![]()
Sorry for the overkill on ensuring it's a 5404 rear with disc mount.![]()

thedarlington wrote:whats the update on this group buy what controller would be good for this? wouldnt it make sense to also have them come with their controllers to atleast make the high shipping a bit better deal that way

markcycle wrote:I also want to agree with Methods. Being I also have a conflict of interest I refrained from saying anything. The value in buying from Methods or Justin is they take the grief when things go bad, and they do. For instance I got a batch of motors and when I say a batch I mean a container of motor in which the wrong epoxy was used EnerTrac reglued all the magnets in the complete shipment and it turns out I wasn't the only vendor who got burned with bad epoxy.
Just saying the saving seems great but so is the risks
