Mother of all group buys with 5% proceeds to benefit ES

Postby recumpence » Thu Aug 25, 2011 7:35 am

Hey Guys,

I have been ordering larger and larger quantities of machined parts, motors, belts, etc and I am trying to get a handle on how many of each item to order (I have a few machiend parts to reorder and a batch of motors to order very soon). So, to that end, I figured it would be a good idea to run another group buy so I can get a handle on quantities I will need to order. Also, I wanted to see what I could do to give something back to ES (and Justin in particular) for all that has been done for us. So, I am donating 5% of the gross sales generated in this group buy, that is not 5% of profit, but 5% of the total sales. I wish it could be more. But, discounting stuff shaves away nearly all profit.

So, here is what I am offering at a group buy discount;

Astro motors
Castle controllers
My reduction drives (including the V4 and my DaVinci drive)
Prebuilt RC throttle interfaces

Here are some prices for you;

3210 (normal price $400) group buy price $360
3215 (normal price $550) group buy price $480
3220 (normal price $700) group buy price $580
Castle HV160 (normal price from me $300) group buy price $250
RC Throttle interface with Magura throttle (normal price $155) group buy price $125
V4 drive with torque limiter (normal price $385) group buy price $330
DaVinci drive (normal price $575) group buy price $490

For those who have a pending order for a DaVinci drive, PM me and we can adjust your price down to the group buy price.

This group buy will run for 7 days starting today. When all orders are tallied, I will calculate 5% of the total and send that to Justin to help support ES.

With the last group buy, I required full payment up-front. With this group buy, I will take a 30% deposit up-front with the ballance due at time of order completion.

Expect a 8 to 10 week time for motors. Most orders will ship in full when the motor arrives unless specific arrangements are made to ship partials.

Thanks Guys!

Hi, Have you ever integrated the Astro 3220 motor 2 stage on the Yuba Mundo cargo bike?

How is the efficiency if I put on Yuba Mundo cargo bike and I don't know this set-up can able haul or cargo 440 lbs.

I rode Green Machine's (Eric) monstrous rocket trike (I think he bought it from you) and I love it!
Thank you Justin Lemire-Elmore - You are a HERO!

Not as of yet. I have a couple pages on-line about how to use RC stuff on bikes. However, things change quickly. So, I offer individual customer service to explain everything per each customer's requests and needs. :)

I have shipped many orders in the last couple weeks. Expect a few new RC builds on the forum soon.

If you could provide links to build threads that show your drives & torque limiter & what motors these can be used with, then I think it will help prospective buyers decide what can be done & how to do it. 8)

Thanks. :)

The battery is more critical to the distance you need to run than the motor.

Are you technically inclined? These RC systems are wonderful, but require some technical savy on the part of the builder to have good success. :)

Hi Matt,... anyone,

I have 3 main questions.

Are there some photos of the complete V4 drive and TL on ES or elsewhere?

Does it include a mount, and is there a dimensional drawing available?

Can it work with the 80-100 motor?

TIA, Richard

Thanks for the PMs.

As you guys finalize your orders, be sure to post them here so we can keep track of the group buy orders. That way I can make sure I forward the correct dollar amount to ES (Justin). :)

Cool. It looks like I have about $2k of orders so far. So, the ES donation is $100 at this point.

We will keep it going and see how far this goes by the end of the group buy week.

The frame mounts are $85 extra (round tube mounts).

No, I do not make a drive for the Turnigy motors. They are too unreliable and I have spent way too much time trying to cure customer issues related to them. So, I stopped making drives for them.

I have pictures on my yellow trike thread and my Catrike 700 thread. I will see if I can get a few of them loading onto this thread. :)

Hello all!

There will be some planned server downtime of endless-sphere.com tomorrow night (31st of August, 2011) starting at 21:00 PST (00:00 EST), lasting an expected 4h worst case. This will be for migration of ES to a more suitable server, and some security fixes. Please excuse the interruption!

by MRVass » Wed Aug 31, 2011 1:09 pm
After some confirmation with our current hosting solution, there may also be a bit of unplanned downtime as the domain records are updated to switch to the new hosting solution, and this will have to start at 19:30 PST, or 21:30 EST, in order to ensure that a proper, up to date backup is made before our old server is erased.

The service outage might extend into the morning of September 1st, pending propagation times and the responsiveness of our new host as the tables from the shut down board are loaded into the new server.

Again, sorry for the interruption, but this is an unfortunately necessary growing pain.

It looks like the end of the group buy is about the time the server is going to be down. Might be a good idea to extend it by at least one or two days to avoid any missed orders or missing any last minute changes.
Best Wishes!

Mitch

Ben,

Yes, the motors can be done with 12mm shafts. I spoke with Astro at length about this. They are beginning to make 3220 cans (they will be ready September 30th) for 1.125 inch OD bearings. That way they can make 3220s with 1/2 inch shafts that will be much better than the tiny bearings they used to use with 7/8 inch OD. They said they could turn the shafts down from 1/2 inch to 12mm immediately after they exit the can.

They did say all cans are black, though. I hope that is not a problem.

You can Paypal me a 30% deposit to shumaker@owc.net

Be sure to include a note about what you are ordering (in detail) when you Paypal me.

Yes, I think we can extend the group buy longer. I am fine with that.
