Yeah! I just spoke with Max and it appears the real 5400 is back on. He said we are short some though because it will take an order of 50 now. Also, if you were still wanting a refund and haven't received it, make sure you send a new email. Don't reply to a previous one. He is having issues with his email. Hopefully he will follow up here with the details. -Damcard

How many more do you need? and does that mean you'll be opening it up for new people to get in on this?

Postby Andje » Mon Oct 31, 2011 3:05 pm

hi all,

i spoke with Kenny in person on the phone to sort things out properly once and for all.
he will make us the 5404s if we order in sufficient quantity. Whether we can meet that MOQ is another issue but these are the things we need to negotiate. right now as it stands i have refunded apx 7 people,,,if you want back in no problem,,,simply make the payment as last time and state what you want on the order,,,in order to make the MOQ a few people will have to order 2 motors,,,anyone choosing to do this will probably be able to profit from a resale,,,as these motors are not readily available,,,this offer will be closed by nov 10th,,,if we make it fine,,,if not all will be refunded 100%,,,and as always anyone who simply wants out due to time overruns or is just plain fed up waiting and are becoming suspicious that their money has gone up in smoke,,,just email me or call me at 450-681-1913,,,,you will be immediately refunded 100%.

don't forget to gift otherwise you have to add 3.3% paypal fees or 4% if paying by credit card,,,all funds must be in USD.

Canadian residents must pay the GST QST or HST taxes dependent on your province,,,,and must pay in US funds...no exceptions.

as required by law here are my tax numbers:

GST: 140655911

QST: 1009259330

Apparently the real reason we couldn't get these was due proprietry reasons based on the design of the motor, but this has since been resolved. If we order a sufficient quantity Kenny can "remake" these for us. I guess that's kinda fair enough if he has to get the stators etc made up if this is an essentially discontinued motor - if it's true!

again cost is 420$ shipping to your home not included,,,shipping payment is to be paid only when ready to be sent to your home,,,anywhere from 25$ to 50$ per motor dependent on your location.

as stated this offer will end nov 10th,,,then 50 to 60 days to receive the goods then all will be sent to your homes once shipping is paid.

thanks
max kogan
450-681-1913

just got this from max. if we can hit that 50 unit number I would be infinitely happy; like being told Christmas was canceled because santa was a lie, then you turn around and there is a tree with presents.

Haha, now we can get the bitching from the people who wanted the hs version :P

Interesting, folks were wondering about that... I wonder what he will change to make our motors different from the ones Stealth uses. I guess this means K knew about the proprietary restriction when he started talking to woj/max/hyena about selling them the 54xx.

Is there any way we can post up how close we are to the MOQ? I'm sure there are a few people here (including myself) that would bump their order up from 1 to 2 if the MOQ was close.

Happy days are here again! :D Well that is if for some (reason) we don't get switched again. I would like to know the running numbers also. Have two on order, may up it. Kinda disgusted that the required order numbers now have been upped from 30 to 50. When is this game going to end :?: Thanks for working hard on this guys to hopefully, finally, make this happen. :D I am concerned about what changes are being made to this motor for propriatary reasons. :| Kenny better not make this a lessor motor in any way. :x Well, on the surface anyway, it seems to be somewhat better news. Let's fill this order fellow e-bikers. You think that I got enough e-motions into this post. :?:

so are we getting a 5400 now, or something 'really close' since it appears stealth has the rights to the 54s? i gotta say im still jaded on this whole deal, kinda as someone said earlier 'like rewarding a dog for biting you'... kenny says

'yea i can, but you need to order 30 to make it worth my wile'
then
'no you cant, have this other one instead'
then
'yes you can, but only if your order MORE'

the last one kinda reminds me of being back in primary school when kids who realises after you say 'yes' to a deal that he could have gotten more out of you, so he then trys to change the deal after its been done... not so bad when your 9 trading marbles etc, when your an adult running a business its pretty sad.

Evoforce wrote:...... I am concerned about what changes are being made to this motor for propriatary reasons.....

exactly, what guarantees do we have that kenny wont jus't make some crap 'close' to the 5400? ive lost all confidence in kenny atm...

I don't think it's just stealth that use these, there's atleast 1 large e-scooter company in china that also uses them and possibly more. Given there are literally millions of ebikes and escooters in china I'd say these companies would be the much bigger consumers of these motors. For scooter use the added weight isn't such an issue and I believe they were designed for these all along. Thats why they come with 150mm axles originally as that is the ebike standard in china.

The motor Kenny makes us WILL be the 5400 - just with our specified changes - ie better bearings, halls and phase wires. This is the 5400 "remade" and thus a different enough motor from the 5400s that other people have proprietry rights to  Atleast that was my understanding. Kenny has been made quite aware of the fact that we wanted the original 5400 with it's original characteristics and this is what he's making us.

As for the numbers, he wanted 50 all along but he agreed to 30 at the time. Now it's back to 50 and he seems to be sticking to his guns. Maybe he's not as hard up for work now ? I know methods has mentioned before that when he's "hungry" he's more likely to deal and when big orders come in they take priority over the little fish.

Anyway, as Max has already stated, we're back on so lets get our numbers back up! If those who I refunded want back we'd more than welcome it!

Some 1 should tell the italian forum about this buy. there's a reason he bumped it to 50, and a reason he looked how to bypass the rights obsticle.

some of the analogys used on kenny are not precise.

floont come back, what happened is not what you think, there are stuff behind the scence.

at this point guys if i were you i'd set my happy at 65%, double the pride double the fall.

good aspect to post totaled orders, it's incoureging.

Hi guys, I was in this deal from the very beginning but I bailed out as soon as I saw the weight of the motor, a lot heavier than my HS!!!. I would just like to know how much stress a motor like this puts on a wheel with regular spokes. I'm currently working on a DH bike, wich is pretty solid, but finding heavy gauge spokes is another thing. Sure, I can get somebody like JRH build it, but what about servicing it? I just cant see myself shipping the wheel back and forth for maintenance, truing and repairs :( Any opinions?

I'm ordering an extra set of spokes to help out here. You can do truing on your own. Just get a spoke wrench and watch a YouTube video. I built my first wheel that way with a 5305 and took it to a local wheel builder to fine tune. He said it was as perfect as you could expect. That was my first try, and I'm no mechanic or hardware guy. Get the motor built into a rim the first go around (saves you time), and buy an extra set of spokes if you're worried about some future breaks. Then buy a spoke wrench and fine tune yourself. It's really not rocket science.

that is why i saved 30 EUR!

Building a wheel from scratch cost here 50EUR but fine tuning 20EUR. SO i just put the spokes in, and laced more or less so that they were all in one place and went for fine tuning

If this is originaly 150mm axle, maybe they dont mind keeping the length and just lathe in between dropouts the fat part of the axle to fit 135mm, and if users want to move to 150mm frame just add spacers as i noted this befor.
it's ok for the mechanics if they start with 150mm, and not a problem to cut the extra with 3$ metal hand saw who minds the extra 1cm on each side.

any idea if he'l have replacement parts ? Cos if this is a 1 time run it's good to stock up (though hard to believe he'l run this beast once), i'm still interested in spare rotor cos im not worried abaut the axle nor stator.
if he will stock replacements then no biggy at the moment.

dont be alarmed by this, the rotor is fine, i want a spare for cnvenience reasons of swapping stator into different wheel sizes 26'-20' in 30 minuts.

Bloody hell!

What an emotional rollercoaster!

I have been away for about a month and started reading the thread from where i left off at oct 2 after paying Hyena and my heart sunk.

But now i am filled with joy :)

OK, so what exactly is it we are getting as of the time of this post? Hate for the thread to be repetitious, but I think it's a good idea for someone (Hyena) to state exactly and succinctly what is being supplied with this purchase including the upgrades.

Thanks.
