Prius 2001 modules, many rehydrated

Postby fredtr » Sun Nov 13, 2011 10:04 am

I picked up a Prius project which included a full set of 38 Prius 2001 battery modules. These are the ones the sides are all plastic. After 2004 the sides are partially metal. It looks like the previous owner followed the rehydrate instructions on many of these modules. You can see where he drilled the holes, refilled and sealed the holes with epoxy. These have been sitting for a while, the few that I have measured are around 7.4 volts, and I haven't charged any of them. Most have labels indicating voltage and the current they were tested at. The car these came off of has 38,000 miles. I'm located just north of Phoenix AZ, I don't want to ship them. The car had been from an area north of here that is not as hot in the summer. I'm asking $100 OBO for all of them, which is a very good value.

If I knew if it was ok to post my phone number and e-mail address here I would. But I will check responses and get back to you.

So you are selling 38 units for $100? What is the voltage on the labels?

I would agree that you probably shouldn't openly post your phone and email. The regular members here wouldn't do anything malicious with it, but you never know who might be passing through.

I just glanced at a few of them, the ones I looked at ranged from 7.4 to 7.96 volts. It is raining here right now, and they are outside under a tarp.

Yes I am selling all of them for $100. It would like for someone to do an EV project with them.

Ok, I was just wondering how close they were to the spec. Sounds like a great deal. I may be driving through AZ soon, I might be interested, but I have to check on some things. Do you know the approximate dimensions of ea unit?

I just saw this posted:
Each module is 11 x 4.75 x .75 and contains 6 cells in series for a total nominal voltage of 7.2v and 6.5 amps.

I'm assuming those are inch measurements. I know that you didn't make this post, but do they look like they are about that size in inch measurements?

Hello Jay, paypal is fine. My e-mail is in the private message I sent to you, which is also my paypal account. Is your trip for certain? Feel free to call me, or send your phone number and I will call you. I'm just getting into this Prius, but have been doing a lot of reading about the battery modules.

My trip is not 100% planned out. I'm still in LA at the moment, but am thinking about going up to Colorado on the way out. I was thinking of going up through Vegas, which would put me past your location, so I wasn't sure of driving all the way back down in that direction before heading back home to Florida. But I guess I could swing by Phoenix and on to Albuquerque on the way up to Colorado. Might be a better drive this time a year than going to utah and cutting over. But that means I'm gonna have to miss my girls in Vegas.    I'm still working out the details.
