i've got some Q's about the kmx trikes.
What i wonder, when i want to use it as a transport: i havn't seen any of them with protecting wheel flaps. I guess when it rains or road is a bit dirty, i have to shower when i arrive at work?
Some models are specced with 3 brakes, some with 2 on frontwheels. Do these have only 2 brakes??
When equipped with 2 brakes, are they activated seperately, or both by one handle? ( as stated with 3-brake models)
Are they all equipped with stainless spokes?
Where can i find and get spareparts?
When i search kmxkarts.com, i'm redirected to .co.uk Is u.k. the main dealer, or is it u.s. made?

thnx.

Hi Dutchlincoln, are you in the netherlands?

KMX started in England and I think their HQ is there but there are dealerships worldwide. I think the frames are made in vietnam or taiwan these days.

Yes, they do have protecting wheelflaps (fenders?) sometimes as optional extras sometimes included, depends on the particular dealer you buy from.

Same with spares, some dealers have spares accounts, some are useless with "Yeah, we have KMX" listed on their websites only to be followed up with a phonecall enquiry along the lines of "Oo, nah man, you'll have to wait 6-8 weeks for one of those and we don't have the model you're after 'cos they make us order 5 at a time and we ain't ordering 5 just because one customer wants one but we do have this "other" one in stock that is totally inappropriate for what you want to do with it. Would you like us to send you one of those?"  *pant* *pant*........um, rant over.

Not sure about brakes, maybe someone that owns one can help you with your enquiry.....

Hi, i'm from the netherlands indeed.

The main problem here is that nobody can actually let me have a testride on a recumbent.
I went to some shops, but i had to show pictures and explain what i meant. They'd never heard of it.
There are some manufacturers of these bikes, each having several models with all their specific quality's, but i can't testdrive any of them.
They also have pricetags in a way that i can't just let one come over and try if i like it..
Hard decisions...

My goal was to go to work every day on a bike in order to get a little exercise, and work out. My work is approx. 8 miles from home, and i do it by car, motorcycle, and E-scooter now.
Thats why i wanted to know about the fenders :)

Main use is public road. I have no intentions to go into the dirt with it.

I looove the innocenti, but hey, 11k.. Wow.
Catrike is a option, along with kmx.

Maybe you can pm me some options and prices?

Oh, I'm not a KMX dealer and I live in Australia. I think Recumpence who's an outstanding member here on ES IS a KMX seller but he's in America. He still might be able to help you out though.

I've just spent a fair bit of time researching them but I don't even have one. Maybe in the next year or two though.....

I think your best chance would be maybe a daytrip to london or maybe there's another Bike shop closer to you that stock them??
Spending that kind of money it would definately be worth a testdrive.

I'm a nerd, i always shower in the morning while checking Email, and browsing my Iphone... :)

I'm trying to lokalise a dealer nearby indeed. Latest option is a day-trip to the u.k. indeed....

KMX has two different fender varieties, one that fits 16/20" trikes, and one that fits their 20/24" or 20/26" trikes. They do a great job of keeping the tire mist at bay.

They come stock with just the front brakes, the rear brake is optional. Stock trikes have disc bosses and rear disc wheels so a rear brake can always be added at a later date as well. Brakes can be activated differentially with two levers (stock) or with an optional single pull lever (which is required if you're running a rear brake to so theirs handlebar space for front and rear brakes).

Stainless spokes are standard.

Spare parts can be purchased through us (we're located in western North Carolina) or any other US KMX dealer.

As Hobbit mentioned, they were established in the UK and they're imported to the USA.

Here's a link to all the info on their trikes on our site: http://www.ffrtrikes.com/pedal

The best way to get in touch with us for the fastest response is to email: info@ffrtrikes.com, or call the shop at 828-654-7555. We'll be back in the shop on Friday.

Thanks,
Tommy
