I can make you custom parts

Postby atom1025 » Thu Oct 13, 2011 8:00 pm

Been working in a sheet metal fabrication shop for a year now. Boss is supercool gearhead that loves anything with a motor. Hes got nearly forty years under his belt.

So I noticed some cnc quotes for dropouts and torque arms and was shocked at cost of cnc.

We have two Amada N/C machines that can punchout nearly any shape out of materials as thick as 1/4" steel. Curves cost more, the straiter the lines the simpler it is to program and cut. The cost is way cheaper then cnc.

We have a large Amada press brake that can handle anything this hobby can throw at it.

We have mills and lathes but that gets more expensive.

We can weld anything for ya as well.

So I asked the boss if we can do side work and he said bring it. We will split any earnings between us 70-30 since he writes the program and supplies material/ machines.

What I have in mind is folding up some alum battery boxes and maybe dropouts or torque arms but I am willing to take a look at any project and give a quote.

So if your not in a huge rush and need some budget sheet metal work done send email to. atomstool at yahoo com with a solidworks file. Heck for simple parts a drawing on a napkin will do.

Shop is located in central California in just outside Sacramento.

I've got a yuba mundo frame and nuvinci hub coming. Would be interested in axle adapters, motor mounts, and jack shaft. Will keep you in mind.

Would you be able to make a dual motor mounting bracket for a Currie Skyline?

Hi Adam~
I'd like a couple've torqueplates for my new bike. It does not have threaded holes on the dropouts (like for racks or fenders), but it does have holes that are about 3/8" diameter that go through the dropouts, just in front of the axle. I figured that on the backside of the torqueplate, a small, round piece of steel could be welded there to index it so it would be stationary. But I also want to have the torque plates extend behind the axle abit so I can create an attachment point for my bob trailer thingies. Fortunately, Bob makes a wider trailer hitch for a certain bike that's got 150mm span, so this can work. So...in relation to the hubmotor axle, both holes need to be in identical location (size of skewer threads). Not sure how to send you a perfect template, as to the exact cutout for the hubaxle, but if you can fab that flat-sided hole accurately, with just an accurate centerpoint as reference, let me know. Otherwise I'll figure out how to do it, somehow. Would also like holes drilled and tapped on topside for rack, fenders, etc (two on each should suffice) I can send you a template made of formica with locations and shape, etc.
Any idea of cost?? Thanks....Dan

I don't think this is gonna work out. The bosses qoutes seem steep...... stupid as its slow and we have a scrap pile of various options....
