49 x ARTESYN BXB75-48S12FLT DC-DC converters

Postby flip_normal » Thu Feb 28, 2008 7:50 am

Well I went and bought 49 x ARTESYN BXB75-48S12FLT DC-DC converters on US ebay the other day (for $52) and I don't need all of them. They're just the thing for powering 12V lights and other gizmos from a 36 - 72V battery pack, they're good for 75Watts and have over temp, over volt and short circiut protection. If there's someone in the US who wants to take delivery of these and then post half on to me and the others to ES members over there to use in their projects then that'd be a good use for them me thinks.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140209559919&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=004

Postage/packing costs can be done with paypal but still they should only run to $10 each maybe less. I'd like to recover my costs for the ones I leave in the US so a buck and a quarter will be included in the price for those who want one. At the moment they're in Lecanto, Florida so if there's any one nearby with the time then all the better but postage within the US is only $18 and obviously I'll cover that and the onward shipping of the rest to me.

If there's any one who thinks this is a good idea and has the time to do a bit of p+p then let me know by posting a reply here (ASAP!), otherwise I'll just have them all sent over here (UK) and I'll distribute them myself or ebay off any I don't need.

These items were sold as untested so it would be good if the person who takes them could power them up and check the output is 12V.

Flip,

I would be happy to do it. I live in Orlando, and that is a bit further than I would want to drive to pick up. I think there may be a few members over on the West coast that are within driving range. But if nobody else will do it, than I will.

Hi Drewjet,

Actually I'm not even sure if the guy accepts local pickup (he's dosen't reply to emails very quickly) so if you could PM me your address I'll get them paid for and sent over to you if you're still up for it.

Cheers,

Luke.

If he doesn't I can do it ... They will have to go clear to WA, however. I assume you want me to remail them in the US from here?

I am interested in buying one ....

PM me for an address if he doesn't respond.

kbarrett - thanks for the offer but they've already been posted to drewjet. Hopefully he'll receive them soon and can then test a few to check they work OK.

drewjet - The package is in the post. 8) PM sent.

I have received the converters and tested as follows. I checked a total of 7 of them. I used a source from 39 volts to 50 volts. All put out 12.51 to 12.60 volts. With a load of 4 to 7 amps on output, all held voltage well, only dropping .02 volts. Left load on for approx 3 minutes and no major heating, just slightly warm.

25 have been sent to Flip_Normal and 4 are for me. That leaves 20 of them for sale.

Information available on purchasing here

What are the chances they can be run at an 84v input and only ~8w output? Think they have that sort of headroom?

I am not sure about running them outside of specs. I think someone did. However, they are all sold now.

Working fine for me at 88v. Got three units running together for 130w total all have survived the high voltage so far..
