Any one used one of these?
How easy are they to fit? I am assuming...drain brake fluid, cut line. clean up, install the switch and then bleed the system?
is that about it?

Also..how soon does the brake switch activate? does there have to be pressure on the brakes before the switch closes? or can you set it to come on before mechanical action starts?

one of these for those that do not know them

Hi Neil,

Got one, i'm satisfied with it.

Easy to install. It's the bleeding that gave me headache, but nothing to do with the switch. I finally solved that by buying the bleeding kit.

But the switch works great, as soon as you press, it activates the brake, the pads just barely start to contact the disk.

The first switch they sent me got a problem after a month, it stuck in open position, never got to understand the reason.
The vendor did not agree to pay me back, i did not insist much.

The one i have now for 2 months is looking good.

I've got a second one that i want to install on the front brake, the rational here is that if my rear hydraulic line fails, i loose both mechanical brake and engine brake, and i'm left with front brake only. So with the second switch i still have engine brake at least. A bit paranoid maybe.

They work just fine. They come on with almost no bite of the real brake , which is good

Dont use wrong brake fluid though or as Hugues found you will destroy them

Not sure if everyone knows about this, but:

Should be plug and play with some mods to the connectors

The only problem about this is if you want to use for regen, I usually press the rear brakes first. So this might take some getting use to.

Good find.I just ordered one.

That's a really nice solution. Really expensive though. Does anyone know of any brake levers/master cylinders that have brake switches integrated, and would work with magura bicycle brakes?

???
I thought that was extremely cheap for a complete brake setup ...the fact that it also includes a brake switch as well makes it even more of a bargain as far as I can see.

Maybe I'm mistaking this, but it looks like $35 for a single brake switch. That's pretty pricey. I don't see anything else but adapters included in the kit.

Edit: with the whole brake setup, it's not soo bad, but the aurigas aren't the best brakes in the world... by any means... I guess I'm just looking for something more universal

PSS: Didn't realize how old the beginning of the thread was...

Ah. OK, sorry I thought you were referring to the direct previous post .the complete kit on e-bay. Check out the previous post and e-bay link.

I should have read your post fully ..in the same way you should have read the previous posts a nd followed the link completely...it links to what you were asking for ..a complete kit. Not sure about working with a Magura brake though..not sure what exactly that is

Definately not a chinese POS brake switch. Very solid. Looking for some options for my next build so it was very opportune timing.

I don't think it's complete in the sense, it including the rear. It states only Front, but that is all you need in most cases anyways.

Won't be a problem at all.
Use a longer pipe and use this lever and unit on the back. You will just need to change the mounting adapter

Tektro do sell them for both front and rear. I wanted to get them but on the Tektro web site they are labelled as OEM only

http://www.tektro.com/_english/01_products/01_prodetail.php?pid=131&sortname=Disc&sort=1&fid=1

or ask the e-bay seller if they can get the others in the range..maybe the bigger Dorado e-moped range

Rear and Front available.

[ 160mm rotor only ]

With some re-wiring necessary for some systems...

[ Sensor control designed for Bion-X system ]

got to admit i have no idea; I was planning on ordering them only because i need two brakes controlled by one lever. I may just daisy chain the hydro calipers and run a normal hydro lever with a hall sensor and a magnet glued on. If I do end up ordering from hygia I'll report on them for sure. I can tell you that the company seems quite on the ball; I emailed them about their online store with a question about hall options and they actually added a "halls" ordering button on the site by the next day.

Just bought them. We will see how it goes when I get my hands on them. Intend to use on Juicy Seven (wife bike) and Elixer Seven (cromotor commuter)....

Installation guide (pdf)

I have a few of those. Plan to put two on my green bike, which has hydro brakes front and rear. To date however have only installed on one brake on my folding bike.

Installation and bleeding went fine. Sadly I left too little hose between brake and pressure switch, making it a bit difficult to complete my bleeding. My problem (to date) is that the switch is basically too sensitive - it registers as just-about-active when the break lever is not closed at all. So when I attach it to my CAv3, it flickers like a dying fluorescent light bulb. If I take my break lever and pull it AWAY from closed, the switch reads "open" and I can ride. No good! So, I have an overly sensitive break pressure switch.
Options:
1) I bought a few of these... I can install another one. And bleed. PITA.
2) I can maybe bleed out a little pressure from the system - maybe open the bleed valve, close the brake lever 1/4", then close the valve. Create an "under pressure" start point. Have not tried that yet, too many other things to do.
For now, my brake switch stays disconnected :(
