Ok I was wrong. I apologize to the extent my posts influenced anyone else. Hopefully paypal makes everyone whole. Let's do an accounting once the claims are finished, so I can make a decision on how to proceed.

not a scam, this is felony fraud.

someone needs to contact the police to get him incarcerated before he can spend all the cash. if there is someone in florida, close by, then they need to directly contact the local police and get a detective assigned to this case and see if the local DA will start an investigation.

the behavior over on motored bikes is a confirmation. waiting for this to turn out well is time wasted.

Not a typical fraud case, I really do not get it. Usually people who can build something fairly complex have better ways to make 20k.

Yea he shared most of those here on the forums in the past.. that's the weird thing about this
we have so much information on him.. unless he's planning on leaving the US or he's just waiting on paypal
to do what he said they where (and is really really lax about keeping us updated) It makes NO sense
at all.

I hope there's something else , but with each minute and no response it seems less likely.

I'll go first. I'm out $576. I just confirmed with my buddy that it was sent as a personal xfer like he always does for me, and those can't be cancelled. The only good thing I can say is thank goodness I didn't go on the hook for double or triple the cells like I wanted, because that would have stung. While an annoyance, I'll be much more upset if any of my ES friends lose any money.

Nope I have been refreshing that all night since the previous login.. took a walk came back and he had logged in.. I am sure it's him logging in , but I don't see that he read my PM.

someone needs to get the police to open a case against him for fraud and then take that to paypal so they will prevent him from removing the funds from his account if he hasn't already.

if the police know he is wanted then if he is arrested while on drug or alcohol induced frenzy with this money then they will hold him in jail on the fraud charge.

they will not let him out of jail if it is a felony charge without him coming up with bail. someone has to move on this soon before he blows all the cash or moves somewhere else that he cannot be tracked down.

someone else made the comment about how group buys all go bad. not so, this is the only one i have seen here.

I am starting it tomorrow regardless. If he chimes in in a few days and reasonably explains what happened AND we get our money back then a criminal case is probably not justified. If he disappears, then, well, all bets are off... I think at this point the deal is dead regardless if he comes back or not.

Does PayPal hold funds when someone reports an item not received? They might, assuming its escalated... Just depends on if they are in the account or not.

Looking at sangesf's bike it looks like he is one of those dudes that has to ride an ebike cause he has too many dui's...which is why he got caught riding it on the side of the freeway

it does not make any difference if someone gifted him money through paypal using the personal function. this is fraud, and he fraudulently accepted the money, so he is not able to somehow claim the money is his.

if someone such as zomgvtek can get a lawyer to initiate proceedings, it will give paypal a legal right to hold the funds in escrow until it is returned. he will then no longer be able to hide behind his anonymous identity and will be subject to arrest if he does not return the cash. it is already at that level now imo.

everything he has said about his brother and paypal holding his funds is identical to the claims he made about the guys funds over on the motored bike board. i think that was a case where his sister shook the cash out of him to return the $200. she may be able to help now too. somehow he has to be forced to recognize the jig is up and return the cash.
