Turnigy Silicone Wire Hobby King Out Of Stock

Hello everyone. You can't beat the price and quality of Turnigy silicone wire at Hobby King but they have been out of stock of almost every size wire for months now. I'm looking for some 10-12 gauge silicone wire. Are there any good alternatives to Hobby King that will not break the bank?

As much as I like the flexibility of the silicone wires. I've switched over to wires I've found at west marine for abrasion resistance. I've had the silicone sheathing wear through on my BMC build. I still use it for sections that don't have any abrasion to worry about.

Funny how that happens, I've been waiting for over a month now. I ordered from Epbuddy yesterday before it was back in stock at Hobby King. It turns out that the cost of the wire is cheaper at Epbuddy, not sure about the quality of the wire but I'm sure it will be fine. Epbuddy looks like a great alternative! Thanks!

If you have a West Marine store, it's worth going into. They have all sorts of electrical stuff that can be applied to ebikes. The wire is sold by the foot so you can get just the amount you need. It’s very similar to the wiring used in cars. Silcone wire although nice and heat resistant, just won't last long in any environment that can cause abrasion. The main power leads of my pack last year shorted together. Luckily it was not a full on short. The fine wires vaporised instantly. I had noticed a burnt smell, but did not locate the short till I did a full inspection of the pack. It could of been a lot worse. If you take your silicone wire and rub it across a peice of sandpaper, you soon realize how soft this material is.

So put some heat shrink over your silicone wire anyplace it will rub. Better still, design better so you don't run any wire of any kind over a sharp corner.
