Fill it out anyways. The worst they can do is say no. But if they're looking to generate sales, then they may send it anyways, rather than risk losing a potential customer of someone obviously interested in the product.

That stuff is pretty cool. I like that both sides are the same on it, and it tends to stick pretty decently.

It specifies "work address (etc)", "job title" and "company name" and so on. I filled it out "honestly", saying "none" for anything that was company specific, with 0's for phone number, and put in the notes that I'm not a company, but that I'm looking for a solution for "Securing data collection/display devices (like the Cycle Analyst from http://ebikes.ca) to electric-bicycle handlebars or frames. "

We'll see if they send anything.

I got a reply from them.. they picked up on my zip 90210 with NB for a state !

They said they would forward my info to the canadian devision and have them send me samples.

It's really good stuff. Much better than Velcro.

Although the downside being that you may need a slotted screwdriver to pry the sides apart.

3M sample packs are awesome.

Mine showed up today. I think the glue might almost peal off before the locks release. very good stuff.

I can see a use in locking HK Lipo packs together to keep them from rattling around in an enclosure.

It that also called "Dual Lock" ??? (ref: http://www.itapestore.com/3mduallockfasteners.aspx ) I recently learned about this stuff. It is AMAZING! I was thinkb about using it to mount battery packs, among other things. Apparently Radioshack also sells it in 4, 3 inch pieces for about 5 bucks. I think they only sell it in Clear. Apparently alot pro sound engineers have been using this stuff for some time now. for mounting their gear and floor pedals, etc.

How much did they send you in your sample pack? How much did the sample pack cost?? Free??

I am wondering if this might be even good for mounting battery cells together.. there is a bit of tough plastic layer and also a layer of foam(or rubber underneath. It may provide some reasonable shock absorbing qualities, in addition to being able to take cells apart, kind of like Legos. I even have an idea of using this take to secure the connections on my anderson plugs (or even other plugs, but also having the ability to easily disconnect when removing the battery. When I have applied the technique I am thinking about, I may post it here to share with others. My idea for securing andersons and other plugs may also have advantage of keeping moisture out?? And I wonder what it's conductivity specification are for use around electricity.

Got my surprise sample pack at work today. Definitely stuff in there that you won't find at your "run of the mill" hardware stores. The micro velcros are kinda cool too. Don't see a use for them, but it sure is interesting how varied the stuff can be.

I've used that stuff at work here. Yes, you do need to pry it apart with a screwdriver if the area is large. Mated, the two layers are quite thick compared to normal velcro too.

there must be a surface area to weight factor that makes it hold, yet come off if desired..

I don't have camera nor camera phone. I'm still in the dark ages here. I'll tell you this though, it took no time for them to send the samples to work. And if your unsure whether they will be soliciting my contacts, they haven't (yet). I'm sure a multi multi billion dollar company with worldwide recognition really needs to stoop to that level. I'll describe the samples as best I can:

The samples are adhesive strips similar (in size, not strength) to what they sell as those all purpose closet hooks you find at most retail stores. I have 2 batches of 3-4 different strips all 3"x 1/2". Each of those 3-4 strips have a tiny tiny velcro wrap that keep them organized. 1 batch contains "hook & loop" velcro we normally are used to seeing. The other batch have the "mushroom & mushroom" type of configuration. The mushroom configuration has the advantage of being more versatile since you don't have to worry which side gets the "hook" and other gets the "loop". Now that I think about it, I have seen these "mushroom" velcro sold in homedepot, lowe's, etc. Maybe they carry them.

I will add this. The industrial version of the "mushroom" dual lock fasteners seem to be the real deal. The OP saying they may be a viable solution to keep your prismatic batteries organized as a single "collective" object definitely has merit.

thanks for the description. If the "mushroom type" are "Dual Lock", which I think they are, I have seen them for sure at Radioshack. They package them in 4 strips about 3-4 inches long. And they cost about 5 bucks. I think they have trademarked the name "Dual Lock" for this technology.

UPS honked a couple times and then tossed a little box on the sidewalk, almost in the street. They're getting horrible about deliveries these days! I have gotten to the point where I probably wouldn't even want something if it had to be shipped UPS, even if it was free, because I don't even know if I would get it!

(I happened to be in the back around the side, and heard the truck stop and pull away just before the dogs started barking. Good thing I was there, or someone probably would've either picked it up and taken it, or run it over).


Anyway, here's what they almost didn't deliver:

There are standard velcro hook/loop types, some very thin and fine stuff on the left, to more typical coarser stuff on teh right. Some has adhesive and some is just cloth back.

The newer kind is also in several types, from finer to coarser, including one hard-backed circle that's intended to be screwed or riveted down. I don't think it's quite big enough to hold a Cycle Analyst in place, but two of them probably would be, with one at each end of an LS version, and two corresponding patches on the handlebars or wherever. Then a short-harnessed water-resistant/proof plug to connect the CA to the bike's wiring, and it would make it easy to take a CA off to "stealth" a bike while it's on a rack or wherever. Or to keep the CA out of heavy rain or hail or something.

One of the sets is a "mismatch" of types (intentional, apparently), so that it has four small grips for every large one, arranged in a grid rather than the wavy lines all the others use. Presumably it makes for better grip; I have a hard enough time with all of them and my old fingers that I can't tell if it really does or not.
