fuses bad but have continuity?

Postby medusa569 » Tue May 15, 2012 9:55 am

Well after only 3 days back riding..my bike failed on me again. Luckily I was carrying my spare fuses...and I replaced it and kept fingers crossed. 10 minutes had passed from the time I broke down...the controller was warm but not hot to the touch.
I broke down at a time when i was going uphill and wasn't pedaling much.
When i got home I measured for continuity as the fuse did not look broken or burned out. It did show continuity..so I'm baffled. Could it have been something other than the fuse and coincidence allowed it to start up again? With my old controller it didn't break down this easily. Am I missing some areas that need beefing up and have I missed something in my fuse testing to distinguish truly blown fuses?

nope, sounds like the BMS shut down because of the current load. you need to use a wattmeter or cycle analyst to monitor the current flow. then you will have good idea of what the battery is doing.

I will get one....somehow even though the battery and BMS was checked out by another member I get the feeling something is wrong...it was fully charged yesterday , I went for a trip about 1 mile's worth and today in charging it it seems like its taking an awful long time.
