Audi ebike

Daimler just started taking orders for their Smart ebike. Seems like Audi didn't want to be left behind. Looks pretty sweet :) although hard to see very much in the video.

Hopefully is can do more than 250w.

Looks like a carbon frame, bespoke suspension. Bet it will be over $15k, but looks nice!

Bout as nice as 250w gets if it is. I'd love one that ran 1000w I'm sure. Likely to cost like an optibike of course.
THE LIPO RULES. NEVER ABOVE 4.3V NEVER BELOW 2.7V DON'T PUNCTURE

Ideal charging /discharging range for Lipo, 3.65v minimum 4.1v maximum

See battery technology section, FAQ thread at the top of the page for lipo noob info.

The one in the vid has much more than 250w of power :D
It is very light too, I'd guess in the 50 pounds
If they release it as it is shown here, it will not be street legal but then I'll be looking at it closely.

Having Julien Dupont riding it was a damn good idea.
Audi are going two wheels with the purchase of Ducati
Let's hope they build a pro trial E-motorcycle soon.
Make it fool-proof, and I will make a better fool.

That bike has 2500 watts of power and it looks like a Clean Mobile drive system.

Nice, unique seat setup. I like it. Probably too much for my pocket book. Great to see some good designs coming out.

IMO this is the finest example of a high performance electric bike every built. If they mass produce that bike and offer it at 2.5k it would probably bankrupt 90% of ebike companies and kill half of endless sphere...who would ever bother building a Frankenstein bike anymore? Let them bring it to market at 15k so ES can still breathe.

I have heard rumors that they are targeting $15,000 for a retail price and no plans to release it yet....they are just playing with idea talking to lawyers etc.

The real interesting part of the release of the bike it comes just month after the announcement that Audi bought Ducatti for 1.2 billion dollars. Audi (owed by VW who made the smart bike) seems serious about buildng electric bikes.

Notice the details in this bike...the led lights in the read of the seat, and led lights build into the handlebars. This seems like a serious effort given they actually build a prototype of this bike.

I wrote everything i could find about this bike here http://www.electricbike.com/audi-ebike/

Pulling extended wheelies gets some help from the control system, with a "Power Wheelie" mode for less skilled riders that oversees an adjustable wheelie angle, and a "Balanced Wheelie" mode for more experienced riders where the balance is maintained electronically. The latter mode sees the motor either accelerating or slowing down the e-bike as the rider's weight shifts forward or back.

It has a unicycle mode! 8)

Not an issue. It has a seat, that is more than usually expected of a trial bike.
The more I hear about it, the more I want to try one.

This bike has gotten a crazy amount of Buzz. I have people who I would never expect to ask me about ebikes, excitedly contacting me about this. Pretty freaking cool. I don't know how that chain is going to hold up though...

That guy is one of the best trial champions of the world. This ride was no more risk to him than walking the sidewalk is to you.
