do you know what the battery is made up of? did they tell you anything about it at all? pictures?

you don't have to buy from anonymous ebay sources. there is li ping, BMS battery, evassemble, and other people here also sell batteries.

do not buy a Vpower pack, no matter how cheap. the cheaper the battery the bigger the chance it will be junk.

Some get lucky, some don't. If you don't have enough money to try again if you don't get lucky, then go with a more expensive but more trusted vendor than the ebay guys.

Many of the ebay batteries are fine, but if not you are stuck with it.

In the past, a few vendors were notorious for sending out obviously defective batteries over and over. Dumpster divers or something. Often changing names monthly, most of thier sales were one buck items. By the time your package arrives shipped slow, the guy was operating under another name. So look at what else this guy sells, is it one buck stuff, or does he really specialize in electronic stuff?

i cannot tell you which packs to buy from the PM you sent.

you need to stop and start reading more about how to build the bike up first. that big of a pack is really heavy, so it takes a special situation to carry it, like a trike or recumbent imo.

if you wait and watch, you will learn more about how to build a bike up, and maybe someone here will sell their battery cheap here.

but like i said, do not buy a Vpower pack, no matter how cheap.

Do you have the link to the seller?

Might help to look and see what he has.

ok it helps to see you are going to get a pouch pack. so it will end up being $500+ shipped by surface? you should think about how you will mount it on the bike, call them and see if they will split the pack into two pieces so you can carry half on each side of the bike, see if they do custom splits like ping does, and see how much they charge for that.

but first you need to think what kinda ride you want to build and then figure out if you can use this pack for that. splitting the pack up allows it to be mounted lower or placed in more convenient locations on the bike.

but that is not a Vpower pack. looks like 5Ah pouches,4X each, see if you can get a deal on a second charger too. shipping would be lowest if it all goes together on the boat.

order now and get it for after july 4th, gives you time to build the bike up first. BOL

I agree about the size, 48v 15 ah pouch packs are about the largest size that carries easily on a bike. But you might need the 20 ah size, depending on what amperage your controller is running, or how much range you need.

The seller seems to be in buisness more than a few weeks, and sells other items besides bracelets and keychains to get his feedback fluffed up. that's good. But if you do end up with a dud bms, you may end up having to get a new one from ping and pay for it. You can't afford to ship it (the whole pack) back to china for warantee.

We don't really have data on the dud rate, but it's not known to be a huge rate at least. We never hear from satisfied customers here, just pissed off ones. This vendor may not have sold enough batteries to have a pissed customer that also found ES.

Count me in about the size concern. That's a big, heavy battery more suited to cargo, trike or bent.

Seller actually seems like a responsive sort and has left more than double the feedback received. That generally indicates an interested and involved user but must also wonder "why did roughly 1500 people not return feedback?" A lot of people never bother, I know... However, seller feedback and range of products offered looks pretty good to me. I've seen much worse.

Perhaps ask them about that warranty? If it included prepaid return shipping, it wood make a lot of sense? eBay seems to indicate they've sold 27 of these packs and they've been a member since 2010.

But, OMG the size and weight of that thing in one package on a regular bicycle?

You'd never in a million years see my name and address as the sender on a known to be defective lithium battery weighing 20 pounds.

it's pretty cheap for an assembled pack though.

those 2C 5Ah pouches are kinda universal too.

like i said, think about what you wanna build and ride, this may be too big but if they will split it up into two parts then you can hang them down low in back on each side, extracycle would be ideal.

or mid frame and rear rack. get the pack dimensions, build a cardboard box mockup of the same size and see where it will fit if split in two pieces.

Obviously, it's difficult to make an educated decision based on one feedback, but a friend of mine bought one of Sunthing28's 24v 20Ah batteries around a year ago.
He said the seller was pleasant and answered all his questions, even though the seller's English wasn't perfect. But hey, how much Chinese can we speak

He reports that he has had absolutely no problems with the battery. Capacity is holding well, with no apparent dud cells to date.

Not as well presented and packaged as a Ping, but the price looks to be good.

You may well be better off buying a Ping 48v 15Ah, as I have run one for a few weeks now, and it's seriously the dog's danglies.
Well worth the extra premium

I think this might be considered spam, in so far as you have a bias to disclose. It's good to use the word "buy/sell" but it's not totally obvious that you also sell them.

In general, it sounds like the advice applies to ebay batteries, from what I've seen. Might want to go for a ping battery instead.
New to endless-sphere? Notice a lot of signatures recommending Ebike.ca? That's because it's the best place for a quality and manageable, (but still 'real'), first build. Justin is a solid supporter of electric bike development, and a good source of equipment.

My hat off a thousand times to the green people that effectively run this forum. The ES Mods are superb.

the ping is $658, 22lbs and you can add shipping so if you get that one shipped for $500 that is really cheap and if alfan can authentically vouch that it is what it appears in the picture.

but the idea that you can buy those A123 pouches and spot weld the tabs together in 5 minutes, and the 16 pouches would only be $400.

but then add spot welder, charger, BMS, do you know how to solder and do mechanical assembly stuff? maybe you could do that for the same money, but this one is assembled already, just lower C rate.
