My 48v 500W Cruiser Chopper Project

Hey All, I have a little update for you all. With just on 1000km so far I am absolutely amazed with how awesome the Electric Chopper is. My car has been out of action for the last 3 months and have used the bike to get to work (9km each way). I have managed to beat my times that I would...

    Aussie 200 Watt Limit Thread

I think if it looks like your riding, then you'll draw so much less attention to yourself. Even with my "250w" I like to Since i'm riding around in a chopper bicycle, I do try and keep the attention as low as possible. In this way I try and pedal and don't exceed a speed that would be...

The costs behind the infrastructure would outweigh the benefits 10 fold, considering each dyno would eventually need to be calibrated and serviced. Also finding a power source would mean that every vehicle would need this to be installed. In the scheme of things in my weekend rides and daily, I...

Oh wow thanks for that. I might look a bit less crazy this way haha. Could I ask where you got the 48t and 11t from? I appreciate that heaps :)

Yeah it wouldn't take much unfortunately. I still find myself preferring to ride the chopper bike than something else, i'd even go to the extent of sticking with 250w and pedalec than riding something that drew less attention that had a different feel. I am so relaxed riding on the chopper...

That is very true, it would be nice though to be able to 'adjust' when required. I'm in 2 minds atm with getting attention. I'm thinking of getting a mountain bike in the hopes to draw less attention, but then again anything going faster than the average bike would pick up attention. Its...

Thats very interesting, smart guy to be able to get that job for the RTA police for sure I wonder if technically electronically limiting the motor would be adequate?

Wow thats a fair bit of work and training for the NSW police to bring the dynos around with them. Are Electric bikes that much of an issue in the scheme of things though? Its the only thing I can see that is In the back of my mind I am thinking of selling my chopper due to the attention it...

What would the testing methods be applied to approve/disapprove a ebike on the road if someone was pulled over? Is there any way they could take a bike that was in fact 250w? Or a 500w system that was electronically limited to 250w (and speed limited to 25km an hour) from the Cycle Analyst?

    New Gitane Bike Project

I may have found a kit sooner than later so this may end up being the fastest conversion ever since starting lol

Well I do believe that there are quite a few higher powered ebikes that would be used on the road that I would be confident would be better riders than some motorists. If anything i'd rather the bad motorists to be on a bicycle instead, that way they can see it from the other side and see what...

    New Gitane Bike Project

Hey all, Well I have got the chopper going and its time i'm looking for something that will draw a bit less attention (and may be a bit neater this time round lmao) and maybe not sealed lead anchor powered. The plan is to look at getting a 500w to 1000w rear wheel kit for it and run a 36v pack...

My 48v 500W Cruiser Chopper Project

Well the bike has been the most awesome thing ever. I've been riding it for the last few weeks. The only frustrating thing so far is having to go into the garage every night to turn off the charger once its finished. It also takes all night so if I charge from 5pm I am out there at 9-10pm by the...

My 48v 500W Cruiser Chopper Project

2 weeks in and i'm loving this thing. Its heavy but its heaps of fun. Closest thing to a Motorbike i'll ever get (too scared to ride with traffic at that speed) Its interesting to see how wreckless some people are, one guy turned into the slip lane (from the U turn lane on the other side of the...

My 48v 500W Cruiser Chopper Project

Just came from a ride, clocked up 25km distance and only used 5 amps of riding. Should should allow me to get 50km or so with my riding. I use the motor with pedal assist to take off (mostly pedalling) and the rest of the time has been pedalling once i'm up to speed which was suprisingly easy...
