Fusin Motors /WorldWide Electric Bikes 48V 10AH Kit Review

I'm having the exact opposite issue: the space in the drops is too big so the axle can rotate. That's how I got thrown the first time around. We'll see how tonights bike works out.

Fusin Motors /WorldWide Electric Bikes 48V 10AH Kit Review

I'm done trying to use the 700C bike for this, the next build will be a typical 26" MTB. If this one doesn't work I'll probably just bring it to *mart and find some cheap-o it'll work in.

Fusin Motors /WorldWide Electric Bikes 48V 10AH Kit Review

Hi All, Just wanted to bump this up, let you all know I have not forgotten about you. Since I last posted I have bought 2 seperate MTBs, and the wheel didn't fit in either properly. One there was too much rotational play, like the one I had my crash with. The second the area from the flat of...

Fusin Motors /WorldWide Electric Bikes 48V 10AH Kit Review

Thanks. As far as #1 goes, I think it would cost more to have new dropouts welded on than to just get a new fork. I'm also not overly keen on trusting this one after it bit into the ground that hard. I could inspect it, but after a wreck like that I'd just as soon bin it. As for #2, I'll look...

Fusin Motors /WorldWide Electric Bikes 48V 10AH Kit Review

I’m pleased with the reponse of Louis and Steve as well, and stoked the battery is being replaced. I’ll continue the review when I get the new one! Dogman, I spend all weekend at the motorcycle races, and have not looked at the forks to see if they spread or not. Considering...

The real argument against Direct Drive Front hubs

I don't disagree with any of this. I was just pointing out that I installed a kit as it came, as many come, and it failed in the method described. I've learned my lesson, and will not use a FWD system without torque arms again. Period. However, I'd be willing to bet dollars against donuts...

The real argument against Direct Drive Front hubs

True, but that wasn't the question - the question was has anyone, ever? The torque arms were "supposed to be" unnecessary due to the special rotation locking washer they included. I'm also still not 100% sure the dropouts were too large, although I suspect they were. The axle could not fit in...

    is this fork good enough?

When I say the axle opening in the dropouts, I don't mean the width between the forks. That appears to be 100mm, as you said. I was suggesting he check the width of the slot the axle itself goes into, so that there is a tight fit of the axle flats to assist in preventing turning under load...

Fusin Motors /WorldWide Electric Bikes 48V 10AH Kit Review

Hi Louis, Thanks for your condolences. I’ll live, it could have been worse. I’ve been banged up before, it’s not the end of the world. The wheel was installed exactly as your picture shows, on a chromoly steel fork with 100mm dropouts. When I spoke with Steve he said...

    is this fork good enough?

I would measure the width of the axle opening in the dropouts. As it's intended for a bolt-on axle and not a QR axle, there might be the potential for the axle to twist the dropouts apart. That gets painful and expensive fast... ask me how I know :(

    Bike saddle bargains

X2. While the wide soft saddles are nice for shorter jaunts (neither of my parents will ride with anything else, but they don't ride more than a few miles at a time either) they don't work well for long distance. That is a great saddle for around town, but not something you want to do 50 miles...

Fusin Motors /WorldWide Electric Bikes 48V 10AH Kit Review

Glad you enjoyed the review. It’s not the first I’ve done, just the first for an e-bike. Here in the camp of Dan K, we get to the skin ‘n pavement of things, even if it means leaving some skin & blood on the pavement like I did today! Good to know about the battery. The...

Fusin Motors /WorldWide Electric Bikes 48V 10AH Kit Review

Thanks again for this detailed reply. I did misunderstand what you said initially, but it seems the verdict is the same: A fork like your Kona will be made for QR, and will fit my axle, possibly with some filing. A fork that’s intended for bolt-on, like my Moto, will be larger than the...

Fusin Motors /WorldWide Electric Bikes 48V 10AH Kit Review

Cool, thanks for the pics and the reply! That fork is on my short list if I'm able to resolve these issues and this kit ever goes again.
