    Shock absorption AND cooling ?

Thanks! Spray foam looks like a great solution! The emtb frame actually has a flat down tube where I want to mount the battery, so that's why I'm interested in the flat base. Any tips on sourcing bags? I've been looking at bike saddle bags, and am after long low bag to sit on the down tube. The...

    Shock absorption AND cooling ?

Thanks for the reply. Re the heat, I think you are right. The way I use the pack and the pack itself being 'over' spec'd, heat really shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the tips on the mounting too. I'm happy the 18650s are all solid. So it's really the pack to frame mounting I need to sort...

    Shock absorption AND cooling ?

Thought this would be more generally applicable than ebikes. (I have an ebike battery pack with an integrated BMS on top. Mainly riding offroad) I need a material that will absorb chatter etc. There were some recommendations about eg, yoga mats, but not sure if they would be applicable to...

Australia - resources for e-bikes, kits and parts

Sorry for the necropost, but thought it better than making a new thread. Does anyone know someone in Sydney who can put together a battery pack? I have batteries BMS etc coming, but need somebody with the equipment/expertise to assemble it. TIA

    Bafang MAX drive (250W) readout

I tried searching, but couldn't find the answer... Both the Max G330.250 and the G330.350 mention rated voltage at 36/43/48. Does that mean that you can use anything between 10S and 13S battery? Or are they special builds for each of those voltages? Anyone running one of those 36V motors with...

I bought a Bafang Ultra full suspension fat bike from Alibaba.com

Last I looked the best you can do with a Shimano was HG31 or HG41 11-34T. Haven't looked at SRAM, but they didn't seem to go to 34. But the Sunrace M680 is an 11-40T cassette. You can find it on ebay. Alternatively, you can always punch out pins and add a big cog, which is what I've done...

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

Hey there. Thought I would toss this in for other's consideration I had been inspired by some of the earlier builds that used standard Li-Ion power tool batteries, especially mhaskell's powered by 18650s. Over the hobby batteries, I liked the: *Can take the knocks - made for heavy duty...

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

Something has been bugging me for a while, and I just wanted to mention it. I think we should keep in mind that Kepler is providing the drive bracket and it's really our decision on the infinite battery, motor & esc combinations. Kepler has gone above and beyond the call of duty in sharing his...

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

Thanks for the replies. a) Does it make any difference to the amps settings for motor/battery if I'm using a throttle set to current mode vs duty cycle in the ADC app config? b) Also should the rated max amps of the VESC itself fit into this? Eg, if the VESC is only rated at 25A continuous...

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

snip snip re vesc amps settings... But motor, battery and absolute max amps are all different, so which one is the limit ? If I set motor to say 80A, then battery to 100A, and absolute to 130A, does vesc just ask for the minimum of these settings? And what is the effect on heat etc. Maybe I...

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

Been testing the drive on my bike and having a lot of fun and I love its simplicity. I guess I am kind of taking it a little outside its intended use, but hey, that's how we have fun, right? I have a couple of things hoping people might be able to give me some tips on. 1. Vesc Amps setting. I...

Kepler Bottom Bracket Friction Drive For Sale (Finally)

What tyre are you using? I'm doing a MTB setup too and went trawling through heaps of tyres looking at their tread desgn. Have ordered a Continental Speed King, which is pretty much a race tyre, so wear may not be too good. Other tyres I had on the possibles list were Mitas Zefyros, Schwalbe...

OK, so you're saying to protect the throttle: *+5v controller to +5v throttle *-ve throttle to -ve controller *signal throttle to 1k resistor, 1k resistor to +5V brake, -ve brake to signal controller, and leave brake signal unconnected TIA

Thanks for your post. I'm just not familiar with the terminology, so I'm instantly struggling when you mentioned common and shorted etc. Supplying no power, with the brake 'off' (magnet near switch) I get no ohm readings from any of the 3 wires. With the brake on (magnet away from switch) i...
