    AFT mid drive build

What did you do in the end to fix the chain dropping? It's funny looking down and watching the motor shift to the right as you throttle up.

Let's hear it from the Mid-Drive Kit Owners !

I for one am very happy with my AFT kit. Great service, great product. I needed something to climb very steep hills with ease and it does just that, as well as being very efficient on the flat.

Best motor for steep city hill low speed climbing?

I have the 1680w mid-drive AFTech kit from http://www.af-tech.com.au/Products_Ebikes.html and in lowest gear it cruises up my 1km long 30% hill no problem at all.

Need help connecting CAv3 to Kelly Controller KBS48101L

Got this sorted now, here is the detail if anyone else needs it: Take green wire from the CA Shunt and wire into the middle pin (green wire - Throttle 0-5V signal IN) on the kelly controller. Don't need the yellow or black wires. Kelly controller Throttle sensor type can be left as 3 wire...

    AFT mid drive build

This did the trick in the end. Jim from AFTech did some testing for me and gave me the following figures which are now working great. Green wire from the shunt into the throttle IN on the controller (also green). I also seem to have the chain alignment pretty much sorted as well. Put the nut...

Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Yep gave that a try too. Before I did that I had no change on the CA screen. After swapping I got the PC CONNECTION message.

Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I have the CAv3 working well, I got it from em3ev with the battery. Firmware is V3.0 Prelim6. I'd like to connect to it from the computer to run the setup config utility. However I forgot to order the relevant USB programming cable. I already have a usb to serial adapter, so have wired up a...

    AFT mid drive build

Yes I opened the heatshrink and connected green wire to the green on the controller but nothing else. I'm thinking I might need to configure the controller to accept a different throttle type or maybe change the output of the CA. Em3EV website says its a hall type throttle and I think the...

    AFT mid drive build

Hi Drew, Are you referring to this shunt? The heatshrink sealed cable pictured coming from the controller side of the shunt has a green yellow and black cable inside. According to the documentation this is: Green: Throttle. "The green ThO wire from the breakout cable provides the controller...

    AFT mid drive build

Don't have the tensioner upgrade. Main problem is the motor cog is pulling itself out of alignment outwards which is both loosening the chain and then causing it to jump off.

    AFT mid drive build

My kit has arrived from AFTech and it works really well. Fantastic heading up hills. Main problems I'm having at the moment is securing the top bracket enough to ensure the motor doesn't slip out of alignment reducing chain tension. Also do you have a CAv3 on there? How did you wire the...

Need help connecting CAv3 to Kelly Controller KBS48101L

I have recently installed a mid drive kit from AFTech which works fine with the supplied throttle. However I am now wanting to install the Cycle Analyst v3 that I have. I have throttle from em3ev connected into the CA. See https://db.tt/fOEushAy The shunt I have connected one end to the CA...

    AFT mid drive build

Good to know, I am hoping for about 30km of range with low levals of pedalling. I will be using it for multiple commuting trips round town each day (can charge in between trips). I live in Dunedin (NZ) which is fairly flat in the CBD but getting back to my office I need to climb a monster hill...

Thanks for the informative posts and video. Great work. I'm thinking of getting the same motor, Jim is very very helpful. What sort of range or Wh do you get when doing no pedalling?
