Motorcycle gloves with body armor and helmet should be ok at 18mph with some rolling. Slamming dead stop into a wall or being hit by a car I would agree less fun. I've fallen over at 0mph on a bike and it sucked.
Very cool. I love Grin Technologies. Their charger is what I use. I'm using ultra cheap $4 speedometers already that are good enough for around town.
The ESR controller has no issue with a proper battery with sufficient amperage support. I just need to wait until better cells are around for the...
Poking around some more it appears the AMI chip handles the motor control while the PIC does the battery charging. I think that is the case since the PIC places itself in reset by pulling up ground when the throttle button is pressed. (#8 signal below)
The power button also drives the Vreg...
Chargers typically apply a voltage across both parallel pack and then the BMS handle the cells.
Ebike controller should work just fine with the K2 since likely not asking for 100A
I had the same setup and the Go Ped ESR controller will trip the BMS in the battery if you slam the throttle to 100%. Disconnect the battery and plug back in and able to drive again. I have yet to find a way to limit how many amps the Go Ped controller wants to pull from the BMS.
I originally used the K2 BMS but later swapped to these 12V BMS since the max operating current was higher.
Let me know if you find a better 24V with even better specs to the K2 cells.
I used this board. It works better than the K2 one that was included but still cannot handle the instant amp request of the ESR controller. (which I hear can be 100A+)

You have a wealth of knowledge on the different scooters since you have a variety. I am sure others can get a scooter for cheap from Amazon or Costco but likely it's heading to the trash in 2-3 years.
From what I've read Steve Patmont was just defending their registered patents to stand up gas scooters. That was to stop the flood of copied, mass produced overseas scooters in the 90s. It takes time and money to create multiple Jigs to test and find the proper frame geometry. Someone else can...
