Trying to identify internal solder pads in a JP 20A controller

My "eco" limiter is set in the same way, but unfortunately in my case it limits it to 33kmh (21mph or thereabouts). If I were to get stopped and the scooter speed-checked, it wouldn't make a difference if it goes up to 33 or up to 50 - both are equally illegal. Did you ever find out how to...

Does anyone know what "M_Ctr" pin is on the board of a QS-S4 type display unit?

I'm modifying the throttle on my Laotie L6 Pro (generic dual-drive 800Wx2 Chinese e-scooter sold by Banggood). In the process of taking it apart to apply the modification, I noticed that there are two buttons, but three pins on the board. The pin labeled PwrKey obviously goes to the power...

How much can I overdrive a BTwin Elops 500E "24V" motor?

Don't think Decathlon/BTwin has ever used brushed motors. Never seen brushed hubs, either. I'd say it's almost certainly brushless. Not sure if sensored or sensorless, but the controller I have can do both. I don't actually own the bike yet; I left it in the store as I gather more information...

How much can I overdrive a BTwin Elops 500E "24V" motor?

I've found a fully functional Elops 500 E bike in a thrift store for €185. On its own it's fairly weak, as it has a 24V 250W PAS powertrain that's nothing to write home about. However, I happen to have a surplus 48V controller, dashboard and battery. The controller is good for about a...

Can I run mixed FETs of the same current spec on the same controller? Voltage spec different but both way above requirement

I have a Ninebot controller with burnt traces - e-braking spike fried them and the resulting angry electric pixies killed a couple of the FETs. I have another identical controller that died for other reasons and still has the high-power section intact. I wanted to salvage its FETs and use them...

Trying to identify internal solder pads in a JP 20A controller

It wouldn't be hard to cut the output leg of the hall sensor and interpose a resistor/potentiometer, I just wanna know if that'll work before I start disassembling the thing, cutting and soldering. Lots of work for nothing if it turns out hall sensor throttles can't be resistored and I have to...

Trying to identify internal solder pads in a JP 20A controller

Good to know, I have a ton of pots around from a part salvaging spree I had a few years ago. Problem: my scooter's throttle is not potentiometer-based, but rather hall-sensor-based. Does this fix work with this type of throttle as well? The throttle trigger is part of the display unit. From...

Trying to identify internal solder pads in a JP 20A controller

That would make sense, as it's completely controlled by the display unit - the trigger throttle is part of it, and the MCU inside the display converts it to digital signals that command the controller via serial communication. I guess that requires the hardware throttle to be soldered to ground...

Trying to identify internal solder pads in a JP 20A controller

It does have speed select - a button on the handlebars that selects between "turbo" and "eco". Unfortunately eco mode isn't limited enough, as it reaches 33kmh. I don't suppose there's any way to reprogram this, as it seems coded in firmware. Man alive, how I hate proprietary boxes... I might...

Trying to identify internal solder pads in a JP 20A controller

I got a Laotie L6 Pro electric scooter. It comes with two JP 20A 48V controllers, a master driving the rear motor and a slave driving the front one. The wiring is the usual Chinese ratnest, but with the help of a multimeter, a few videos (tip: the Yume X11 scooter seems to be wired identically)...

    Weird Hall-effect position sensor readings

You know what it was? That sensor I'd found outside of its notch and stuck back in had come out again. Yeah, that was that. I took the motor out again intending to test your proposed change and found it happily floating in the breeze. Stuck it back in with some temporary glue and the display...

    Weird Hall-effect position sensor readings

I bought an e-scooter second hand. It has a sensored motor, but the previous owner modified it with a 25A sensorless e-bike controller. Said controller is huge and overpowered, so I want to replace it with a more reasonable 18A scooter controller I have kicking around. Unfortunately this other...

Wiring of a separate port BMS as common port

Very clear, thank you very much. Really should have gotten there on my own, but I was writing at 4AM and my brain couldn't brain. :D Eh, I'll survive, at least until I get my hands on a common-port BMS and rewire this thing properly. I don't have switches beefy enough to handle main discharge...

Wiring of a separate port BMS as common port

All right, so it won't balance when charging through the discharge port. Is there a problem if I parallel both the outputs leads *and* the charge leads of both batteries, but separately? I mean paralleling main output 1 to main output 2, and separate from that, charge lead 1 to charge lead 2...

Wiring of a separate port BMS as common port

TL;DR: the BMS has a port for charge and one for power. It can charge through the power port. Will it also balance through it? I have a generic BMS I salvaged out of a dead e-scooter battery. I want to use it on an external battery that'll go on the stem of another e-scooter as a range-booster...
