    Lebowski Controller Brain

Hi All, Been away for a while. I'm wondering if the lebowski controller is still available to be purchased. All I require is the control board/uC as I want to make my own power stage. Thanks

DIY BLDC Controller Wave forms + Snubber

Yes definitely in the P3 there will be a dedicate heat sink. however I think the P@ can still take a fair amount of current with the power plans as makeshift heat sinks.

So here is Prototype 2 (P2). She is working :) It is a 4 layer board whose FET layout is inspired by Vedder. Got total isolation from the logic side to the power side. This includes isolated current sensing as I am using Hall effect current sensing. Was my first time soldering QFN packages so I...

Help me Identify how many pole pairs this motor has

So the pole pairs is the number of magnets/2?

Hi, So I am trying to find out how many pole pairs this motor has

How do I diagnose my battery (random shutdowns)

Bro I feel your pain its infuriating with this stuff. Quick tip if you want to probe the balance leads just grab a single strand wire used for hobby electronics and shove it in the jst connector for easy probing. From what I can gather from scrubbing lightly through your ordeal, it seems...

DIY BLDC Controller Wave forms + Snubber

I already hooked a motor to it and it works well! Now I just need to construct the new smaller board and see how it works.

DIY BLDC Controller Wave forms + Snubber

Wow thanks for that link! In my eyes that is such a complex way of doing things, discrete components everywhere rather than using and integrated gate driver for example like I did. I am sure the way they did it is a lot cheaper since the gate driver alone costs 5 euros each and I have isolated...

2 different current sensors for low rpm Sensor less control

So correct me if I'm wrong but in sensorless control using space vector modulation you measure the current to know the rotor's position and hence you can know how to drive it As I underetand At low rpm the problem is the current is small and hence you cannot measure it properly. To solve this...

DIY BLDC Controller Wave forms + Snubber

Yes definitely the best way to do this is to solder actual probes on where you are probing and having short leads as you said. No I will do exactly what you said, I will connect two phases of the motor as the loads and will start at lower DC link voltages for safety.

DIY BLDC Controller Wave forms + Snubber

Hey Fetcher thanks for the response. I added 100nF ceramic caps across each half bridge and it worked a treat! Thanks so much! The previous voltage spike was almost 60V and now the voltage spike is barely over 48V! So that is a huge improvment!! Open the images in another tab to see the...

DIY BLDC Controller Wave forms + Snubber

Hi all, I am doing my final year thesis in electronics and control. I have built a prototype board for my BLDC motor controller. The board has a lot of test points and jumpers so I can manipulate components in and out of circuit to see what effect they have on the wave forms. What I want to...

Snubber Design for Controller Choice of Capacitor and Power

Hi thanks for the reference, I have read the datasheet you link and found the snubbers you are talking about. Now I am bit confused as to where to apply them, across high side fet only, low side fet or across both ? I am thinking it should be applied across both since I do not want to experience...

Snubber Design for Controller Choice of Capacitor and Power

    1) You're right about the size of the ca0s. In the example give and others I've looked up the sizes are small so it is not a problem. 2) So after determining the parasitic cpaacitance and inductance, I can stimulate the circuit with those values and determine the power rating required. 3) So...
