asking for a raise, advice needed

So much this. Messing up your body for someone else's profit is a damn stupid thing to do.

asking for a raise, advice needed

All of the advice given so far has been relevant. I'm well along in my career now, but when I've wanted to ask for more money, the first thing you do is find someone else preapred to pay you that, then have a conversation with your employer that you have x offer elsewhere for this much more BUT...

Best IGH for BBSHD powered recumbent trike?

I'm also in the heavy cargo bike with a Rohloff/BBSHD combo. A few thousand km and not a single issue, the biggest advantage of the rohloff vs previous IGH I'd tried, is it has enough range to be able to pedal the thing like a normal big when you want to do some work or you forgot to charge the...

48v ~25ah high quality battery - does it exist?

I had a 24ah split pack of ping LiFePo on each of the running boards, but it lost enough pouches to be useless and I replaced it with a 20ah ncm pack in the cargo box. The balance was soo much better with the cells down low

Dutch police found a way to test e-bike power on the side of the road

Just to back up Elinx here, they do not measure power. They measure maximum speed with power assistance. You can have a 100kw motor if you want (they do not test for this), provided power assist ceases at 45km/h.

6 punctures in 16 months, help!

I'll second the Schwalbe marathon/tannus armour combo. After a period of getting punctures every couple of weeks, I went with this set and haven't had a flat in almost two years. This is with 250kg+ GVM

Private scooters finally legalised in Victoria (Australia)

Ha, I despise the hire scooters here in Brisbane. I'd be glad to see them banned again. They're always clogging up the footpath. There's some nob around where I live doing 70km/h up the wrong way on a divided road, but that isn't a scooter specific thing, nobs gunna find a way to nob. But I am...

Private scooters finally legalised in Victoria (Australia)

Still pretty restricted in Vic -Cannot travel at more than 20km/h nor be capable of exceeding 25km/h on level ground -Not permitted to be petrol powered (time for a diesel two stroke? jokes) -Devices with over 200w of power (no mention of continuous/peak) are not permitted on the footway -Cannot...

Electrifying a cargo bike - Mid drive or Hub?

For what its worth, the Madsen comes with a BBS02 from the retailer... Speaking as the owner of a BBSHD equipped cargo bike, the hub motor is likely simpler and more reliable if hills nor extreme loads are a factor. I have gone through so many chains.

Converting an actual motorcyle to electric

I had a look at the work from Trevor, a hell of a lot of nice fabrication there. Neat liquid cooling, but damn that battery box looks wiiiiiiiide to get your legs around. Pretty cool that a 35kw motor can move that thing so fast.

Converting an actual motorcyle to electric

Yes and no. I ended up buying an bmw electric scooter for the wife, its classed as a 400cc equivalent but up to the majority of legal limits here its faster than all but the top tier 1000cc supersports bike. 70-100km/h+ they leave it for dead, but its still better than the equivalently powered...

Converting an actual motorcyle to electric

I think you may have to aim lower powerwise. A 99kw traction motor even from Alibaba would be in the order of $10,000 usd, meaning all in the conversion would cost about as much as a new Goldwing. I wanted to convert a bike too, but its cheaper just to shell out for a new build (electric or...

    Rivian's hot lunch

Agree, the weight of current vehicles and their actual functional use doesn't make sense. Most particularly the US disease we appear to be catching of oversize vehicles :cautious:. A 4,100kg hummer, seating 5, with a total load capacity of 590kg (that could be exceeded by 4 large passengers!!)...

    Rivian's hot lunch

I would love to see anyone other than the cult of tesla breaking into mass market ev sales, but I don't think Rivian has the legs to do it. Currently they truely do seem to be standing on the amazon investment, with the R1 apprently containing a deal of "less than optimal" component and...

Apparently ChatGPT can help you write code / programs?

I do see this a the democratisation/unleashing of lawlessness in software as you now can create fairly complex programming with absolutely zero programming knowledge
