Just thinking aloud here, are you likely to use your 9kWh pack again? It's probably not enough for an Isle of Man! Just wondering if it would be less work to use half of that one instead of building a new 4.5kWh pack for me! But then what could the other half be used for?
Hey Chris thanks for your assistance with battery box design. The first attempt based on this sketch shows the battery box in front of the controller, but it protruded in front of the fairing a little and I wasn't happy with the front wheel clearance.
So I lifted the box above the front of...
That would be great to see, I also seriously considered the 207, it would be ideal in the aircooled version for an even lighter weight (no cooling components), and a few mm smaller diameter makes fitting batteries that much easier. I'm sure there would be a suitable Sevcon controller for it...
Here's one example, this stuff is recommended by Rinehart Motion Systems.

However, I don't know of any suppliers that will sell it by the foot, you may have to buy a whole drum of it.
Let us know if you do find some.
Maybe...
Congrats on your success at Mallala, Chris.
You would think that there would be some mention of this on the forums or perhaps media releases. Maybe deal not quite done yet??? :?
I studied control theory at university about thirty years ago, then did some real-world applications in the water treatment industry a few years after that.
The majority of jobs could be done with your basic PID (we used Programmable Logic Controllers which had a built-in PID function), but...
Yep I think its 40, if you can get 60 or 80 that would be OK too and possibly less tyre wear.
Here's the glue I used, but the brand wouldn't matter. I used the "spread on both bits then wait for it to be almost dry before bringing together" method.
Yep, no solar.
There are quite a few houses in my area with grid-connected PV panels, following some great government incentives, but of course they were done in the cheapest way possible, inverters that don't support autonomous operation (Grid not available = power not available).
I was...
I've had to consider this question. With wild storms hitting the Hunter Region of NSW earlier this week, I find myself posting this from a laptop which has been charged from my e-bike batteries.
We've had no mains electricity for over 3 days now, and it could be up to a week before its...
I had the belt sander material stuck with contact cement, lasted 2 years until no grit left (though went through two tyres, small price to pay for great performance). No lifting at all. Went with the same again, works great, highly recommended.
I think it would be difficult to prevent a steel...
You mean like this one I made the other day...
Bored to 14mm, outer diameter 30mm, length 93mm.
Spacer sandwich to get the motor plate in just the right spot.
Fits nicely. I will use the small square block as part of a bracket to hang the controller from.
